[Now that? That gets her attention right away, even though she's careful not to let on about it. So he's making a joke about raging against the heavens, but still is smart enough to keep his voice low just in case someone actually overhears him. That's such a subtle thing to notice, and yet it makes a big impression: this one thinks about the consequences of his actions. He's aware that his actions have consequences.

It's legitimately sad how incredibly impressed she is by that, after months of traveling with a pack of idiots who couldn't always be arsed to remember that speaking a Dread King's name aloud often means suddenly the Dread King has just become aware that someone has invoked his name.

God. She'd forged a bond with her boys in the time that they'd journeyed together, no doubt of that, but man. Sometimes they were just dumb as a sack of rocks, and it still sometimes surprises her when people aren't.]
