Prompt 1:
t's probably been at least a little while since you managed to climb out of the well, so hopefully you've dried off by now and are enjoying poking around the Town. But who cares about all of that? More importantly, the Town has a new feature this time, for reasons entirely unknown to everyone.
The flowers...seem to be talking. They have no faces, but they will definitely turn to talk to you, and if they have had their color restored, they will very brightly and contentedly compliment you, or your clothing, or wish you well.
If they haven't? Prepare yourself for all sorts of horrible, horrible insults, because that's all that's coming your way.
Prompt 2:
ow are you settling in? Is the Town treating you well? It's not as bad as it used to be; some of the houses have color, some of the food has color and taste as well. It's been polished up a bit since everyone first got here.
Granted, when you wake up that morning to find yourself in full fancy wear of many different types (all colorless, and gender has nothing to do with which you might end up in), you'll find that the Town might not be as well put together as it seems.
You can't get out of the formal wear. It just won't come off, no matter what you do. Which wouldn't be so bad, but... it seems like these clothes will snag on just about everything in the Town, which is far from smooth. Try not to trip over those loose cobblestones, or your dress snagging on a nail sticking out from a door frame. This is really not the place for this sort of clothing.
Prompt 3:
e loves me, he loves me not... that's a pretty familiar game, right? For some reason, the urge to pick one of those flowers and casually pluck the petals from it while playing that game is going to grow stronger and stronger the more flowers you see. Eventually? You're just going to have to cave to it.
(Certainly it doesn't help that the flowers scream a bit when you pull their petals; they still can talk right now, after all!)
She loves you, she loves you not...and by the time you've picked the last petal, you've forgotten who you were even thinking of originally -- instead, the very next person you see is going to be the victim of a very impassioned declaration of love. Don't worry, you'll come back to yourself...after you declare your undying love for everyone to hear.
Prompt 4:
ut no matter how many people tell you not to go into the forest, however, it's still rather enticing, isn't it? It's sitting right there, waiting for you to explore it, waiting for you to just step a little bit out of the Town...
And soon, you're surrounded by the dark boughs of the trees, the twisty, turny paths of the woods, where it feels like you're wandering in circles for hours upon hours --
And then, after ages of tree branches yanking at your hair and roots tripping you up, you find a clearing.
And in that clearing? There's a field of flowers. They're colorless -- strangely eerie because of it, but still distinctly recognizable to the flower familiar as Asphodel. And touching any single one of those flowers will suddenly give you vivid memories of one of your precious friends -- so long as they're dead. Anyone around you is going to experience that flash of memory too, so be careful!

Immediately, the flowers start chiming out, Ah, can you come a bit closer? You're so pretty! And reliable looking! ]
You probably just annoyed them by being so loud. [ Understandable, if you ask them. Phos annoys everyone in their vicinity and has been doing so for their entire 403 year lifespan. They put their hands on their hips, not fazed at all by the compliments they're being showered in while they stare flatly back at Phos and their mini field of beheaded flowers. ] It's pretty normal for stuff around here to do that, but it gets worse if you talk back.
[ Here's the daily dose of half criticism half advice!! ]

I thought it was a similar situation to the ice floes at home. Although even those were nicer than these scraps. [ That's their last sly dig at the gray flowers before Phos crosses over to the colored patch, craving praise to stroke their bruised ego a little.
But Also: ]
If I had a kinder, reliable partner like these flowers say, I might know about these things beforehand..
no subject
[ Yes, "other things". The very big other thing from home that they don't really want to get into but it's relevant for leverage here, and only for leverage. The colored patch immediately take to complimenting Phos and lose interest in Cairn, as they cross their arms and push their weight to one side. ]
What do you think I've been doing for the past few months? You could have figured it out just as easily, if you'd looked a little closer. And here I thought you inherited Lapis' sight...
[ There's no sympathy here, Phos. and two can play the if only my partner was THIS WAY game ]
no subject
[ They grin like a coy idiot as if that's at all an enticing offer, the flowers at their feet cooing praises and oblivious to the dirt slinging going on overhead. They know that Cairngorm doesn't, not really, but if Phos sees a button to press, they won't ignore it. ]
The last few months.. you've shoveled snow, fallen through floors and rearranged a library, haven't you? It sounds like you could use Lapis' sight more than me at this point.
[ Said as the flowers chime how clever! so radiant and charming! from below. Can you handle the sauce, bro. ]
no subject
[ They sigh, weary of and extremely avoidant about the topic. Even without being physically too sleepy to listen to Phos, they still would rather not dip their toes into what will inevitably be a major moral issue while stuck in this hell hole... Cairngorm has a sense of dread that Phos will eventually try to drag them into it somehow, so for the time being, they'll delay it as long as they can. ]
I don't need Lapis' sight to figure things out on my own, or for any of those other tasks. [ Not all of us suck like you do, Phos. They're just gonna step a little out of the patch so they don't have to hear all these little flowers worship Phos, because it's getting on their nerves quick. ] Not that you even have all of it to give to me.
[ They were too sleepy to complain about it before, but that pearl eye is seriously creepy, the more they look at it, even if the flowers below fawn over how totally unique! it is. ]
no subject
[ Which isn't entirely untrue, though they haven't shared any dreams with Lapis in some time now. They're going to need Cairngorm at one point or another, being partners and all, but Phos is happy to only skim the surface of what they need them for until the time comes.
Teasing will have to do for now, Cairngormie. ♡]
Does it bother you?
[ Phos' head tilts to the side as they ask, following them out of the flower's range of attention. The smile that curves their lips says more than they're willing to. ]
If you're worried about something else happening, maybe I should give it back..?
no subject
I already told you, I gave it to you, so do whatever. [ It would be vastly preferable if Phos would try just a little bit harder to not get so broken up, but— what can they do. It wasn't like they were on the moon to prevent whatever led to Phos allowing this to happen, so maybe it's their fault.
Holding the left side of their face, they continue to walk away from the nice colorful flowers, not seemingly having any intention of diverting their path from the colorless ones to get where they're going. It also seems they have no intention of answering Phos' question directly, choosing instead to divert the conversation. ]
Just know that you'll be out of luck if you lose anything else while we're stuck here. I doubt even your inclusions can accept the materials in this place.
no subject
Too bad. ]
I'll be more careful.
[ Phos promises to the square Cairngorm's back, watching after them in a frozen moment until they burst forward. Finally sidling up to their partner's side, they slink a golden arm around their shoulder, leaning their head close. ]
I guess we'll just have to watch each other's backs so nothing happens. But if you lose something, I'm sure we could share my alloy.. Matchies, right?
[ Cue wiggling their arms, just for good measure. M a t c h i e s. ]
no subject
Gross, I don't want that. [ Because their inclusions are 1) picky af and 2) probably have a natural aversion to Phos by now. ] Keep it to yourself. You need all of it to protect that head, anyway.
[ You know, not Phos as a person, because it's not like they CARE or anything like that. Just Lapis' precious head, for sure. ]
...You didn't chip anything getting out of that well, did you?
[ Now that they look closer, their powder isn't even amiss which is weird, too bad they weren't there for the This is a Weird Compound from the moon discovery. ]
