Prompt 1:
t's probably been at least a little while since you managed to climb out of the well, so hopefully you've dried off by now and are enjoying poking around the Town. But who cares about all of that? More importantly, the Town has a new feature this time, for reasons entirely unknown to everyone.
The flowers...seem to be talking. They have no faces, but they will definitely turn to talk to you, and if they have had their color restored, they will very brightly and contentedly compliment you, or your clothing, or wish you well.
If they haven't? Prepare yourself for all sorts of horrible, horrible insults, because that's all that's coming your way.
Prompt 2:
ow are you settling in? Is the Town treating you well? It's not as bad as it used to be; some of the houses have color, some of the food has color and taste as well. It's been polished up a bit since everyone first got here.
Granted, when you wake up that morning to find yourself in full fancy wear of many different types (all colorless, and gender has nothing to do with which you might end up in), you'll find that the Town might not be as well put together as it seems.
You can't get out of the formal wear. It just won't come off, no matter what you do. Which wouldn't be so bad, but... it seems like these clothes will snag on just about everything in the Town, which is far from smooth. Try not to trip over those loose cobblestones, or your dress snagging on a nail sticking out from a door frame. This is really not the place for this sort of clothing.
Prompt 3:
e loves me, he loves me not... that's a pretty familiar game, right? For some reason, the urge to pick one of those flowers and casually pluck the petals from it while playing that game is going to grow stronger and stronger the more flowers you see. Eventually? You're just going to have to cave to it.
(Certainly it doesn't help that the flowers scream a bit when you pull their petals; they still can talk right now, after all!)
She loves you, she loves you not...and by the time you've picked the last petal, you've forgotten who you were even thinking of originally -- instead, the very next person you see is going to be the victim of a very impassioned declaration of love. Don't worry, you'll come back to yourself...after you declare your undying love for everyone to hear.
Prompt 4:
ut no matter how many people tell you not to go into the forest, however, it's still rather enticing, isn't it? It's sitting right there, waiting for you to explore it, waiting for you to just step a little bit out of the Town...
And soon, you're surrounded by the dark boughs of the trees, the twisty, turny paths of the woods, where it feels like you're wandering in circles for hours upon hours --
And then, after ages of tree branches yanking at your hair and roots tripping you up, you find a clearing.
And in that clearing? There's a field of flowers. They're colorless -- strangely eerie because of it, but still distinctly recognizable to the flower familiar as Asphodel. And touching any single one of those flowers will suddenly give you vivid memories of one of your precious friends -- so long as they're dead. Anyone around you is going to experience that flash of memory too, so be careful!

No. Someone has been able to understand the mutated animals in the forest, however. "Understand" is putting it simply. He claimed the animals had multiple voices, and he couldn't make out what they were saying. Only that it was pained.
We split one of them later, one of the animals. They're all spliced. We separated a goat and a bird, but lost the bird. I'm assuming because it hadn't been the dominant animal.
Anyway... [His eyes drift from Nico's face to the board, the map. His lips frown.] The forest is full of illusions and magic like any fairy tale. You shouldn't go in alone.

As Damian explains the weird things that have happened, the animals spliced together and how one died upon separation. It's odd that people come back to life but an animal has died. Maybe it's the difference between them not being native to the land. ] So death is permanent here, just not for us as far as anyone knows.
[ Who knows what happens when someone disappears into the forest. ] Anyone found the other end of the forest yet?
[ He can try to shadow-travel out but Nico will be drained if he tries to do too many jumps in a row. Passing out in the forest doesn't seem like a good idea. ]

[Another wrench in the cogs: is...]
Weirder still: some people go into the forest, go home, and come back again.
[Clark. Keith. He hates this place, honestly. Nico gets a shake of the head.]
Not that I'm aware. I think it's sentient. It grows and changes as it pleases, duping everyone. People have gone in to look for supplies, food, explore. The forest changes each time. It shows people what it wants, hides what it doesn't.
When you try to get cocky, it sends monsters.
If everything is based around fairy tales like the ones in the library, then crossing through the forest would perhaps get us back home--or at least get us to understanding this place.
No one has been able to do it yet.
no subject
[ Maybe that's something Nico can help with. If he can sense someone's disappearance and whether it feels like they've died. ]
When they go home do they remember this place while they're there? Do they remember having been here when they come back?
[ Nico suspects most don't remember while they're gone, but asks it anyway. As for Damian's explanation of how the forest works - well, that reminds him of a certain Labyrinth. How it changes and shifts, growing endlessly and filled with potential dangers but also potential usable items. ]
Sounds like both a pain and yet useful at the same time. I know a place like that back home.
[ A heavy sigh. ] Maybe the people who disappeared in the forest made it to the other end. Though without anyone to confirm that there's no way of knowing if that's true or not.
no subject
No, they don't remember anything in their own world. They go home, stay for however long--a month, a year, several years--and then they come back. They remember being here once they get here.
[Damian's eyes search across Nico's face at the mention of a similar place, but for now, he doesn't ask about it. Huh.]
It's been a speculation. I've told a few people that may be what happens just so they'll stop worrying so much.
Looks like you're stuck here with the rest of us. Is bad luck a habit?
no subject
They go home to the exact moment they left or have they've been considered missing by others?
[ It's kind of an important question because things were happening back home even if Nico isn't directly involved at the minute. ]
Seems like the kind thing to say, to let them think of the best possibility for people who disappear.
[ Would Nico tell everyone if he finds out the people who vanish in the forest die? Who knows. ]
Sort of seems like it sometimes. I've survived a lot of terrible things but the people around me don't always.
no subject
[Damian shrugs then crosses his arms over his chest. He can't even be irritated Nico is asking a thousand questions. He's glad someone new is, at least. Questioning is good.]
Join the club. It won't get any better here. If anything, it'll get worse, and you'll keep coming back over and over for more.
no subject
[ Even if Nico wasn't actually part of the most recent Quest to stop said evil - even if he's hardly considered a contender in most cases doesn't mean that he'll stand aside and let some guys ruin everything he's fought to protect so far. ]
Don't know how much worse this place can make things but it'll be interesting to see it try, at least. What sort of things do you guys do around here when stuff isn't trying to kill you?
no subject
"Glass houses," his father had reminded him recently.] We try to survive. [He motions dismissively toward the board. They build? They keep busy, more importantly to Damian.]
Food is the most important. Only some of it has color and, therefore, has taste. Everything else is basically ash. We made a community garden, and we've fixed up the houses. Some of us have collected animals or go hunting. [He sighs... begrudgingly.] Ichinose made a defense force for protection, so there's that.
no subject
A glance at the board but it doesn't linger long. Damian says a couple things where Nico could help out. ]
Are there teams looking into getting everyone home? Or some place like a clinic for those who get injured? [ He's no doctor or healer but that's a job where he could lend a minor hand at least. Better than doing gardening. And Nico might need to look into the defense force. ]
no subject
Do you even know--?
[One of the colorless flowers interrupts with, "As if the grandson of the Demon's Head can do anything but kill anyway!" and Damian snaps his head around as quick as lightning.
If he were inclined to powers, the flower would have been in flames just from the glare alone.]
Be quiet.
no subject
When he's about to respond to the housing situation, they're interrupted with more insulting flowers. Another pipes up with, "We should have known the son of Hades would make friends with a bunch of killers. The only thing they know is death." ]
These things are seriously starting to make me angry. I suggest you all stop before I show you what death is like.
no subject
He knows how the rest feels without having to even admit anything to even himself. Knowing only death? Dishing out death? Average day.] Just ignore them...
The town is always doing something like this. Come on. I know a place where there aren't any flowers much less chattering ones.
[He doesn't even wait on Nico to agree. He takes off instead for the harbor docks in Bluo.]
no subject
And if he's concerned about what the flowers are saying about the other teen, it doesn't show. A regular day. ] You'd think they'd be more careful who they insult, especially if they can throw out comments like that.
Yeah, let's get out of here before something bad happens.
[ Like Nico accidentally raising the dead because he can't always control his emotions. Thankfully, he trails after Damian much like he did before. He doesn't speak again until they're at the water.
Que the dry sarcasm: ] So the dark water looks like it'd be fun for a game of Marco Polo.
no subject
Typically, the town doesn't care who it hurts or insults. It's like a child playing a game. It wants to see what you do regardless of your feelings.
[At the dock, Damian glances at Nico and gives the boy the weirdest sort of look he's probably given anyone here thus far. A kind of expression that says he wants to smirk about the humor, but he's trying to keep a level and serious face since he doesn't know Nico very well. He doesn't want to find it amusing.] Tt.
Maybe if you wanted to play Hypo Thermia instead. It's dangerous, though less so closer to the town, if you have a suit, or if you have powers to nullify the effects. Swimming down is different than swimming out.
The further away you try to swim from Chroma, the faster you succumb to hypothermia. Trust me, I've tried.
no subject
Sounds like it could be a dangerous game for them. If there's an actual being behind it, I'd hate to be them.
[ Nico wouldn't just think of a child but a god or immortal being - someone who's gotten bored and set this up as entertainment. Whereas Damian feels the need to hold back, Nico allows himself a small upcurve of his lips. ]
Can't say I've ever wanted to play that version. Unfortunately I'm lacking a suit or water powers so swimming is out. Not really my area anyway.
[ The ocean is Percy's territory. ] And building a boat is out?
