Prompt 1:
t's probably been at least a little while since you managed to climb out of the well, so hopefully you've dried off by now and are enjoying poking around the Town. But who cares about all of that? More importantly, the Town has a new feature this time, for reasons entirely unknown to everyone.
The flowers...seem to be talking. They have no faces, but they will definitely turn to talk to you, and if they have had their color restored, they will very brightly and contentedly compliment you, or your clothing, or wish you well.
If they haven't? Prepare yourself for all sorts of horrible, horrible insults, because that's all that's coming your way.
Prompt 2:
ow are you settling in? Is the Town treating you well? It's not as bad as it used to be; some of the houses have color, some of the food has color and taste as well. It's been polished up a bit since everyone first got here.
Granted, when you wake up that morning to find yourself in full fancy wear of many different types (all colorless, and gender has nothing to do with which you might end up in), you'll find that the Town might not be as well put together as it seems.
You can't get out of the formal wear. It just won't come off, no matter what you do. Which wouldn't be so bad, but... it seems like these clothes will snag on just about everything in the Town, which is far from smooth. Try not to trip over those loose cobblestones, or your dress snagging on a nail sticking out from a door frame. This is really not the place for this sort of clothing.
Prompt 3:
e loves me, he loves me not... that's a pretty familiar game, right? For some reason, the urge to pick one of those flowers and casually pluck the petals from it while playing that game is going to grow stronger and stronger the more flowers you see. Eventually? You're just going to have to cave to it.
(Certainly it doesn't help that the flowers scream a bit when you pull their petals; they still can talk right now, after all!)
She loves you, she loves you not...and by the time you've picked the last petal, you've forgotten who you were even thinking of originally -- instead, the very next person you see is going to be the victim of a very impassioned declaration of love. Don't worry, you'll come back to yourself...after you declare your undying love for everyone to hear.
Prompt 4:
ut no matter how many people tell you not to go into the forest, however, it's still rather enticing, isn't it? It's sitting right there, waiting for you to explore it, waiting for you to just step a little bit out of the Town...
And soon, you're surrounded by the dark boughs of the trees, the twisty, turny paths of the woods, where it feels like you're wandering in circles for hours upon hours --
And then, after ages of tree branches yanking at your hair and roots tripping you up, you find a clearing.
And in that clearing? There's a field of flowers. They're colorless -- strangely eerie because of it, but still distinctly recognizable to the flower familiar as Asphodel. And touching any single one of those flowers will suddenly give you vivid memories of one of your precious friends -- so long as they're dead. Anyone around you is going to experience that flash of memory too, so be careful!

The hellhound's enthusiastic response isn't anything Nico worries about even if some of these buildings look like a strong breeze would knock it over. If it falls from just this then it wasn't safe to live in. So he keeps on petting her, digging his fingers in a bit to give her a good scratch.
Even though he never wants to have a reason to eat another of Persephone's pomegrante seeds, Nico pockets them again. ]
Having them doesn't seem like a good sign for either of us. [ No more airtight jars, pls. ] I'm sure having the son of Poseidon around made things a little easier when it came to rescuing everyone from the sirens. So long as they didn't lure you in too.
[ Is that his subtle way of asking whether Percy was a victim or a rescuer? Yes, yes it is. ]
no subject
I'm not the one who tried jumping overboard the last time we ran into sirens. [It was years ago and still something he thinks about when it comes to Annabeth and her fatal flaw.] They tried, but they made it way too obvious that it was fake and not worth going after.
[...what exactly did he hear? It's a mystery.]
no subject
Hm, not sure I can see Annabeth being the one falling for it. [ POINTED STARE accompanied with a hint of sarcasm - implying he could see Percy in that situation. But it's mostly a joke. Mostly. ] So what other dangers are around to worry about.
[ Nico doesn't ask what Percy heard. More because he's thinking about who he'd hear if it happened to him. An answer they both could pretty much guess. ]
no subject
[He gestures for Nico and Mrs. O'Leary to follow, but even so he's still talking.] In a way this place is pretty familiar. You've got quests every month posted on a forum by some guy nobody's ever met, monsters that are generated out of nowhere in the woods, aliens in the ocean, werewolves, portals, sirens...the usual.
[Welcome to Chroma.]
no subject
He only glances back once to ensure the hellhound is following. ] Except for the aliens, it sounds about normal for us. I'm guessing you've tried to leave by boat already.
[ With no results, obviously. ]
no subject
Yup. That turned out about as well as you expected. I tried heading underwater to see who I could talk to when I first got here and that didn't turn out so great either. [The aliens weren't happy and he definitely left the ocean with finger-shaped burns. That was fun.] The woods aren't very clear either since they can turn people around without warning. But some people have tried mapping the place out anyway.
[Where is he leading them? A mystery.] Know what district you're in yet?
no subject
Guess the local sea-life is no friend to Poseidon as it sounds similar to your trip on the Argo II. [ Without Percy around, they had to stick to the air for the most part. If he can't get out via water, then the rest of them have no chance. ] You've had Mrs. O'Leary checking out the forest, looking for a way out?
[ Boats and shadow-travel are out. They'll have to find a different way to leave. ] No. How does anyone tell?
no subject
Some parts of the ocean will still cooperate, same with some of the things living there. It's just other parts that fight against me and that makes it a lot harder to leave. I'm hoping to build negotiations and stuff soon.
[Until then, they're stuck. Nico asks that question though and Percy...rolls his eyes.] You'll just know. [He even waves his hands for emphasis regarding how vague and annoying he finds that.] It's sort of like you just get a sense of where you're supposed to belong and you eventually find your laptop. That's how I ended up in a house with a few other people.
no subject
He listens quietly, uncertain if water is even the way to get home. ] I'll go out with Mrs. O'Leary to see if there's a way to get through the forest, or if there's at least some answers out there.
Real helpful. [ Why can't a sign show up over their heads and make things easy? ] Great, so I'll end up sharing a house with a bunch of strangers.
no subject
You'll probably end up with a couple of strangers, yeah. The two girls I ended up housing with were total strangers, but people move out and find other houses all the time. [Frankly he sort of expects Nico to move out and do his own thing, but that doesn't mean Percy won't try to keep an eye on him now that they're both here.] You're hoping to find ghosts?
[It's a thought. Nico spends more time talking to the dead than the living anyway.]
no subject
Sounds like a pretty good compromise between not enough and too many roommates. [ Look, he doesn't enjoy living alone but if there's too many that's no good either. Even Nico needs a place to crash at night. ] Yeah. Specifically a ghost who lived in this town before us. Hopefully they'll have some information on why it's so empty or where all the people went. Maybe how we get out of here.
[ These days he's spending more time with the living than the dead but this is pretty important. ]
no subject
(Not that Percy is an expert at calling out bad plans, but whatever.)]
I haven't met anybody else who can summon or talk to the dead yet. Could be the route we need that we haven't had a chance to try. [A pause.] If you're gonna go and take Mrs. O'Leary with you, check in when you get back.
[Even though Nico just got there, he'd rather not try to figure out how to juggle someone else he's familiar with disappearing into thin air.]
