Prompt 1:
he forest looms as ever, colorless but not at all dead. The leaves are full, fluttering in the silence, but there's no scent to them, no color. The effect is eerily hard to navigate, almost like an optical illusion, leaves, branches and trunk blending together with the small path -- which already disappears and reappears at a whim.
But even so...
If you brave the path, it seems as though there is something leading you onwards. A trail of... something, crumbs, maybe, the same shade of colorless as everything else, almost impossible to see. Following those might be a bad idea -- your chances of getting lost, tangled in random underbrush, or wandering aimlessly for hours are pretty high... to say nothing of what you might encounter if you stray too far (hint: even the small, fuzzy things have nasty bites).
Still, it's there, and if you follow them... eventually you will come to a small house. It's decrepit, falling apart and in shambles... do you really want to go inside? Perhaps armed with one of the many convenient tree branches that have probably smacked you thus far?
Prompt 2:
hould you enter the house, you'll be greeted with a creepy, creepy doorman. Aw, how cute! And in that doll's hand, there's...a message.
On a slip of paper, it reads, simply and plainly:
The more you take, the more you leave behind.
Curious! (And yeah, you can destroy the doll. It's just a normal doll. You may even come across said doll already crushed by an intrepid explorer.)
Of course, it's a riddle, and the answer's a warning -- the longer you walk around and about the house, the less you'll remember about yourself, until you forget why you were there and why you should leave, and who you are at all, doomed to wander forever.
Or someone saves you, that's fine too.
Prompt 3:
roblem: There are no fresh eggs in the Town.
Solution: Catch a feral chicken, and keep it for eggs. That seems simple enough, right? You're totally up for the task... right?
But why do all of the animals look so strange in the forest? Mutated, with teeth, or wings that don't belong, or claws. That's... a chicken, right?
Catching it will allow you to get some eggs, but that beak looks pretty nasty -- it might be harder than it looks. But you're intrepid and clever, right? Why not demonstrate your Chicken Wrangling Skills that won you the championship so many years ago? Or try to serenade the savage beast? Or wuss out and form a coalition with which you draw lots to see who has to do battle with the chicken? There's safety in numbers! But the prize will surely be worth a bit of blood loss and fowl-related trauma.
Do it for the eggs.
Prompt 4:
here's a new quest on the forum today, and it looks awfully easy! It's listed simply as:
Quest XXII. Talk to someone you've never met about their childhood. Quest will be completed when you have reached an acceptable level of knowledge.
On the other hand, that's a little vague, isn't it... ? How will you even know when you've completed a quest like that?
Still, it looks easy! Maybe go give it a try. You could respond to the forum post to try to find people, or just go on outside, go harass someone about their past. If you're lucky, you'll drag it out of them with very little hassle and it won't take you a good chunk of the day. If you're unlucky, that's what highly persistent stalking is for! But don't forget, you'll likely have to return the favor.
And your new friend might not be the only one listening.

Izuku dragged his attention away from the plants to stare into the forest, where the path would have led them before it disappeared. "Evidence...I'm not sure. We won't know what happened unless we find someone else to ask, someone who was there when all this happened." He looked contemplative. "I was hoping I'd find more people, but you're the only one I've seen so far."
no subject
It probably wasn't anything useful to the situation, but it did have Waver curious. Regardless, he stood up, trying to determine where to go next.
"People might not be as helpful as you think. But it's probably worth moving along the path to see if there's anything unusual that sticks out here." He shook his head, realizing something else. "The endless see of colorlessness might make that tricky."
no subject
Everyone knew what quirks were. Surely there was a misunderstanding somewhere? Though Izuku had already begun to feel on edge from the sudden change in scenery, this just added another layer to the overall wrongness.
no subject
"No. Seriously, just...explain it to me, okay?"
no subject
Now that he knew, though, Izuku was all too happy to to explain. "Ah, quirks are basically what we call powers. Most of the population has one that they're born with, and there's just so many kinds!" Despite the severity of their situation, Izuku couldn't help but let some of his usual enthusiasm leak into his voice as he talked.
no subject
"Give me a few examples, just so I have an idea."
no subject
"Um, well, there's strength augmentation, elemental types like fire and ice, even other types more specialized like a quirk that can erase other quirks," Izuku said, pausing for a moment. "Does that sort of help?"
no subject
It also meant that they were from different worlds, which was pretty concerning. As that thought crossed his mind, his face grew dark.
"We're dealing with something very serious then, if it can pull people from two very different places."
no subject
"So, we're really from different worlds--or something like that? I was hoping it was just... me overthinking things." He tugged on his bottom lip nervously. "Either we have something powerful enough to bring us here and wipe out color like this... or we're dealing with two separate, powerful problems. I don't like either of those options."
no subject
"They're both really crappy. So we have to figure out which it is and...probably keep walking, because standing around isn't going to net us anything at all."
no subject
Though, with the path still missing, he wondered how difficult even that first part would be. "Wait...!" Izuku brought his face closer to the ground before picking something up. "Are these...breadcrumbs?"
no subject
"What the--" he muttered, leaning in to examine the substance closer.
"Yeah. It's breadcrumbs. What the hell?"
no subject
"It's a little hard to see at first, but..." Slowly, Izuku pointed back in the direction he'd come from, his pointer finger tracing the trail that the breadcrumbs left, then past where he and Waver are crouching, and even further into the forest. Izuku was almost positive the breadcrumbs were going in the same direction the path had been, before it disappeared.
"Do you think someone else left these behind as a marker?"
no subject
"Likely," he murmured, an undercurrent of darkness in his tone. "Crap, this is like a fairytale, isn't it?"
no subject
"I think you're right," he said, rolling the bit of bread in his hand. Breadcrumbs, a seemingly impossible world without color--once again Izuku wondered if someone had set this all up. "I can't remember the details of the story, though. What about you?"
no subject
"The question is, do we want to follow the story?"
no subject
Then again, did they even have a choice? Izuku frowned, then clenched his fists experimentally as he looked over at Waver. "Can you fight?"
no subject
"It's move ahead or just stay here."
As for the second question, Waver simply ignored it.
no subject
His eyes traced the breadcrumb trail again before he came to a decision--and took Waver's silence as a no at the same time. "Let's go on," he said finally. "If something happens, I can probably get us out of trouble."
no subject
Waver didn't have a choice, in the end. At least this guy seemed to be smart and an even keeled sort, and that was pretty damn good all things considered.
"Let's get moving then."
