Prompt 1:
t's cold. There's snow on the ground in this nebulous winter month, and hopefully you've found some ratted coats or blankets to drape over your shoulders, because the weather doesn't seem to be warming up at all. The snow has color, so at least it's not a weird, sickly grey color, but even so...
It's not very comfortable or pleasant, especially when you consider none of the houses have heating.
You might also want to be careful -- roofs that had seemed previously stable are now proving that they are much less so than you first thought; with the piling on of snow, that roof might just be collapsing right on top of you.
Prompt 2:
alloween was a great time in the Town! Too bad you missed it, because it seems like it was a party. And like all parties, the clean up is...well, it still needs doing. There are pumpkins everywhere, rotting rapidly now in a way that almost seems uncanny and not quite right, and on top of that? There are random bones everywhere, in a sinister, deep red color.
Er, maybe you should pick those up.
They're all thankfully otherwise normal, but also, try not to trip over random, half-rotted pumpkins lurking under the snow. Turns out if you touch one of those rotting pumpkins, so long as it was carved, you'll find yourself in part of a sexy Halloween costume, much like the Town has been plagued with over the last month. Wow, unfortunate.
Prompt 3:
n the end, though, the real trouble for people wandering the Town and still getting to know it is that... something is playing some sort of mischief on you. When you go wandering into the woods to gather firewood, you'll find that the moment you put any of it down to go gather more? It's gone, disappearing just like that, as if it was never there.
Don't worry, though! If you go looking, you'll probably find it in someone's house, or right next to someone, or even in their arms all of a sudden! They must have stolen your hard-earned firewood, which is really quite rude. Maybe you should do something about that.
(You really can't trust pixies, that's for sure; sorry if you were going about your day when they suddenly dumped a ton of firewood on you.)
Prompt 4:
ut the weird thing about winter is how gloomy and grim it is. The snow mutes the small amounts of color that were brought back with the Town, and slowly, things feel less and less cheerful, and less and less warm.
... Wait, no, maybe that isn't just a feeling.
The longer you spend in the snow, the more of your own color is sapped away. That...can't possibly be normal! And the more of your color fades away, the more your emotions are dulled as well. Excitement fades away, happiness seems like a distant thought, even worries aren't even a thing that can get to you anymore --
Thankfully, it's an easy fix; just dump a blanket on someone or hug them close to warm them up or shove them next to a fire, and their color will rapidly come back. Still, maybe you should be careful out in that weather.

3, hi!!
Link... [ her voice is small when she says his name and she hastens her steps, rushing up to him, quickly kneeling when she makes it to his side. ] Link, what are you doing out here?!
[ he's shaking like a leaf and barely wearing anything, while she's clad in a pale green snowquill tunic and appropriate pants and boots for the weather. how he hasn't frozen is miraculous. ]
hello!
As he's extending his hand out to her from behind the pants, his mind connects the dots through the cold.]
...?! Zelda?
[What is she doing here? The shock is enough to give him the energy to stand. Almost immediately, as the wind blows against him, he regrets it. But... Zelda!]
When did you get here?
no subject
[ she rises to her feet in seconds as he does, but without a blanket to cover him there's little she can do about the situation at hand. she pushes her hair back and turns to the path going down further into town. ]
Here, come with me - [ she tucks the jar underneath her arm and grabs his hand, ignoring how frigid he is for the moment, and tugs on him to follow ] - you need to get warm. Gods, out here without any clothes, what happened to you?
no subject
I don't know. I guess I got lost. And this outfit just... appeared on me....?
[As short and unhelpful as that explanation is, there isn't much more he can say. He doesn't understand it himself.]
no subject
I'll start a fire. Check the closet, there should be something you can change into.
[ clothing similarly styled to what they're used to in hyrule, and dry and covering. ]
no subject
He hesitates, wondering if he should voice his concerns, but decides against it. Instead, he disappears into the closet.
A minute later, his voice, slightly scared, calls out from behind the door.]
My skin...! Why is my skin grey...?!
no subject
[ the fire has started and, with the living room faintly illuminated now, zelda can see even her own hands have patches without color. she makes her way to the closet and has to stop herself short of entering, forgetting herself in the midst of his worries channeling into her. ]
Don't panic, any loss of color is temporary. Do you feel any different than usual?
[ the drain of colors is a drain in the emotion and she's seen it first hand. it's worrisome, but not the worst thing that could happen on a long list. ]
no subject
[The closet door opens. Link is mostly dressed, but his arms are still bare. The grey has creeped all the way up to his shoulders.
He gazes at her, a vague and ambiguous mix of worry and calm on his face.]
Princess... where are we? What is this? What are you doing here?
no subject
We're... not in Hyrule. [ that's the best place to start she thinks. ] This town has no name, but those who live in it call it Chroma. People like me.
[ she bites her lip small and then takes one of his hands into hers, the contrast of their body heats still noticeable. ]
Come by the fire. You need to warm up.
no subject
Regardless, it's not his place to argue over something so tangential. He steps out and follows Zelda over to the fire. Again, her hand is oddly warm.]
How did you get ahead of me? [His voice is gentle, as he tries extra hard to be mild and respectful.] I thought you were staying in Hateno while I was gone.
no subject
I've been here several months now. [ she confesses and sits on the old tattered sofa, still holding his hand and hoping he joins. ] I know that must sound so very strange, but it's the truth, even if you saw me recently.
no subject
Are you alright? [the heat from the fire is seeping into his skin, returning his energy. color starts seeping down his arms, but he hasn't noticed.] Are we in danger?
no subject
[ she smiles small at him, as her heart begins to calm from panic, and it dawns on her that he's here. and she can't find it in her to obey etiquette and stop holding his hand, continues to hold his gaze in hers, too caught up in her quiet shock. ]
I know this must be overwhelming. If there's anything I can do to help... I'm at a loss for words, but I'm so happy to see you.
no subject
I'm glad we're safe. I'm glad you've been safe. And I'm glad I'm seeing you again so soon, even if the circumstances aren't great. [As the warmth and color creeps back into him, he finds himself smiling. Being stuck here together is a lot more preferable to either of them being stuck here alone, as far as Link is concerned.
He wants to ask her about where they are, how they got here, how to get back, but she's looking kinda emotional right now. If she's really been here for several months - as insane as it sounds to him - then she's probably the more overwhelmed one between them. There will be time to talk about their situation later.]
Pardon me for asking, but, um... you don't have anything to eat, do you?
no subject
[ that just crackles a laugh straight out, and she tries to quickly cover her mouth so as not to embarrass him. it makes sense he'd be hungry, but it just reminds her of his always voracious appetite! oh she missed him so much and it didn't occur to her just how much. ]
Of course, wait here. Just... don't mind how it looks.
[ and, with a tinge of regret, she pulls her hand away from him and stands to walk into the kitchen. the floor plan combines them together, not unlike any cottage in a hylian village, and she's reaching into the cabinets to pull out some apples, cherries... pale blue apricots and striking blue brussel sprouts. they taste as they normally would but color restoration is rather unique.
she quickly tosses it onto a plate and brings it back to them, setting it on the table and leaning back into the sofa with a smile. ]
If you need more let me know. Unfortunately I don't have any meat for you, but we can always go into the woods when the weather is calm.
no subject
When Zelda returns with fruit and vegetables, his face lights up.]
Why are they blue? [Although he quickly accepts them anyway. The apples, apricots and sprouts he sets close to the fire to roast for a short while, and the cherries he simply starts popping into this mouth.]
no subject
[ she bites into the cherry and pulls out the stem with her index and thumb ripping it off in the mouth, chewing quick and savoring the flavor before swallowing. ]
You'll find they don't taste different at all despite the color. It just takes getting used to.
no subject
Is that why my arms are grey? [As he asks, he looks down at his arms - and finds that at some point, they went back to normal.] Or... were grey?
[She's right that the food all tastes the same. He fetches the apple from the fire and passes it between his hands lightly to keep it from burning his hands while it cools.]
Were you ever grey, too?
no subject
[ passing the apple between his hands like that! so reckless. it draws out the tiniest exasperated sigh, so very classic link. ]
No, my skin was never grey. I don't know why that happened to you honestly, but your color seems to be recovering quickly.
[ she takes the rim of the bowl and pushes it a little further away, huffing quietly and carefully inching a little closer to him, practically shoulder to shoulder now. ]
Unfortunately the rest of the color isn't returning back as fast. It's a work in progress that everyone contributes to, though never with an easy target.
no subject
He takes a bite of the apple, warm and sweetened wonderfully by the fire, and listens.]
Do you want to stay? Starting tomorrow, I can try to find a way back to Hyrule.
[It's got to just be over the mountains, right?]
no subject
but none of that is relevant. ]
There's no way back to Hyrule. Or rather, not one found yet. Everyone here has been brought in from different realms - you and I are the only ones even from Hyrule.
So don't rush. You should rest up before worrying.
