Prompt 1: t’s a normal day in the Town – a little chilly, but otherwise sunny and relatively pleasant –which is what makes it all the more offensive that it’s once again up to no good. This time? It happens when you eat. Eating anything red will cause you to grow – the more you eat, the more you grow. If you’re not careful, you could become absolutely massive. Eating anything blue will cause you to shrink – the more you eat, the more, again, you shrink. Don’t worry, though. Eating yellow foods will turn you back to normal. Oh…and remember that foods aren’t always the colors you’re used to them being here. Prompt 2: t’s a good thing you’ve adjusted to the Town a bit! You’re probably wearing some of the classic peasant fashion that can be found and scavenged in the Town, whether for warmth or to give your poor regular clothes a break or because they’re covered in the blood of fairies… either way, here you are in some colorless, hideous grey peasant clothing of various types. Which is why it’s all the worse when it suddenly has color again. Maybe it’s bright orange. Maybe it’s puce colored. Maybe it’s a horrifying mix of pink and purple. Either way, there’s no chance any of what you’re wearing matches. You can definitely thank someone in the Town for this one. Prompt 3: he quest sits proudly and simple on the quest post on the forum. It seems simple, too: Quest 63 Retrieve a pair of fairy wings. Requirements: Any two colors. Surely you can manage that much! So off into the woods you go to find some fairies. Of course, they’re mean, nasty little buggers, full of various types of magic and tricks up their little fairy sleeves, so they won’t exactly be easy to take care of. But you finally manage. You’re victorious, and proudly have a defeated fairy in your hands. … Yeah, of course you have to rip the wings off yourself if you want to bring them back. Anything less just won’t do. Gross. This quest was way more trouble than it was worth. Prompt 4: he woods looms ominously over the Town pretty constantly… and that’s just something you have to get used to. But then, from the depths of the woods, in the darkness under the tree branches, there’s…a light. It’s a small, flickering light, as if from a lantern in the distance. You…should go see what it is, right? There’s a strong, strong urge to do so. Maybe you think someone out there needs help. Maybe you think the person there has answers, or knows a way out. Either way…the will-o-wisps will try to lure you deeply into the woods. Deeper, and deeper and deeper… until you slam right on into one of those golems, or banshees or hydras or many others. You can thank your fellow townspeople for their existence out there – but either way, they’re nasty and mean. [ As colorless as the woods and world around them are, the fairies of this realm remain as exquisite and fantastical as those of her own, dancing in their circles without a care and spinning their magic as if they could weave light into the very breeze itself. The quest itself, however, asks that she and whoever is with her bring back a set of wings...

...And she finds that she really hasn't the heart to literally rip them off the backs of those tiny sprites even if the quest might yield a reward. ] This quest ends here. [ And her tone is very much decisive, final. ]

If there is no other way to obtain these wings but to forcibly remove them from these beings, then.... [ In her world at least, the fairies are sentient, and not to be trifled with. It would be quite taboo to harvest their wings for any reason. Not to mention incredibly stupid. ] We should return empty-handed.

[ It's simply not justified.

Now, if those fairies suddenly begin attacking them, well. That's another story. ]

Colorful Clothes
[ It's not as if Zelda has a problem wearing a simple cotton dress, but to have it turn suddenly turn into an awful clash of vomit-green and blood-orange polka dots?

That gets her to.... laugh. Honestly, she's needed a bit of levity in her life. ] My, would you look at this! [ She lifts a part of her skirt up, admiring Chroma's creativity in color picks. ] Well, what do you think?

[ She'll even do a little spin! ] If I didn't know better, I'd say that this was some sort of prank on the part of our generous "Mr. F".

Music
[ At the end of the day, she'll be playing her own harp just at the edge of the forest on her own, as it is best to practice so that one might not disturb others who would otherwise wish for silence. But watch closely and you might just see the wind stir along with the music, the light around her bend, the shadows at your feet shift, or the puddle of water beside her ripple depending on what she plays.

If you happen to come into her view, she will stop her song and look up, eyes kind and welcoming. ] Ah... Come to join me? [ If you have an instrument of your own, if you'd like to sing along to the melody, or even if you just want to listen, she won't deny you a seat next to her upon the fallen tree trunk. ]

[ he's not moving to take the fairies himself, of course. he's not against violence, far from it, but he has no particular desire to debase himself with such paltry brutality. ]

Saber (blue) | Fate/Stay Night

[ A: Saber of Blueberries

Saber eats food like a drain takes water: calmly, without force, deceptively peaceful, but everything is devoured as a matter of course. Quickly, no matter the volume, it all disappears without a sign of violence.

In other words, Saber found a blueberry bush in the woods and happily snacked on more than she should have, way too fast. Also, she's fighting a fairy to the death.

There is much tiny screaming and war crying in a corner of the woods. If you look closely, a tiny three-inch figure in blue and silver armor is leaping about in massive bounds like a grasshopper, engaged in mortal battle with a hovering fairy. If you watch for long enough, you may even witness a single brilliant, extremely dramatic golden beam shooting from the figure's equally golden sword. It is a tiny beam. More like a laser pointer. But its intensity is no joke; it arcs around with the swing of its sword, blazing through everything it touches. That includes the fairy being targeted and, naturally, the trees nearby.

There's a great, slow, massive movement as the bisected trees lean and crack and topple. Luckily, the tiny armor-clad figure is nimble and lucky enough to leap away to safety. But it sure would be unfortunate if there were anyone else around to get caught up in the carnage... ]


[ B: Help

Really... please... help. Saber is still tiny when she trudges into town. Puny. Lilluputian. She is a miniature picture of ramshackle pride as she marches down the street with a straight back, determined gaze, and neon pink and purple peasant garb.

And then a gull swoops down at her.............. yet again. For some reason, she looks extremely tasty to this bird.

As its shadow looms, she turns to meet it. Her sword, invisible in a wreath of air, materializes once more in her hand. How many times must she relive this bitter battle? ]

Very well. If you are so eager to meet your fate, I will oblige you. You will make a fine feast!

[ So commences the battle of King Arthur and the Bird. Someone please help...... or watch as she murders a bird??? ]

[Minato has been blessed at this moment--he hasn't yet encountered any food that turned him tiny or large. Not yet.

He was significantly less lucky with his clothes--he's dressed in a green hoodie and bright blue pants with a yellow shirt peeking through, but he's used to that.

More importantly? There's a bird harassing someone, and Minato... without missing a beat, without a single change in expression, lifts his hands and charges at it.

Unfortunately, his voice is total deadpan, so it lacks oomph.]

still, though, she's not confident enough in her ability to actually rip wings off to have come alone (plus she's used to working in a pair anyway), and she turns to whoever decided to accompany the welsh-accented spitfire of a girl who probably bullied them into it. ]

Right, then. I pounce one and hold it down, you yank the wings off while it's struggling?

what matters right now is that she consumed a lot of the lobster. seafood's one of her favorite things, and it'd been long enough since she'd eaten that her stomach was starting to growl... so she ate, well, a lot.

and now she is twenty feet tall. honestly, you'd be forgiven for just thinking she was a particularly soft boulder, at first.

once she spots someone, though, she looks at them, cheeks flushing a bit in embarrassment over her unbelievably stupid predicament. ]

O-oi. No questions, got it? Just... d'you know how to get me back to being not the size of a bloody Titan?

[ She's worn worse. She has definitely had to wear worse, but she doesn't WANT to step backward in life or in fashion. She has worked very hard and done a lot of not glamorous things to get to where she was at home!

[ She looks down at her hideous ensemble of orange and green and feels like a pint-sized but adorable carrot. She looks around and spots who's been saddled with red or yellow or blue and approaches them quickly. It doesn't matter if they're bigger. She can work with anything if the clothes match. ]

Doing the Dirty Work

[ She's young but she's not foolish enough to be superstitious. She's also unafraid of getting blood on her hands. She's pretty used to it, actually.

But, should someone cute and delicate like her really have to do such a gruesome thing? Not if she can get away with it. She's done enough work for one day. ]

It looks like we're left with the nastier bit of it, huh? Mm, my stomach hurts just thinking about it. [ She smiles sweetly. ]

Doing the Dirty Work

[ "The nastier bit of it" is right. Magilou's done a lot in her life, but she still isn't all that keen on ripping the wings off of any fairy they come across. It was a miracle to get her in the forest and actually helping to hunt fairies, let alone doing any dirty work. There's a fairy writhing between them, probably shouting obscenities in its pixie tongue. She's neglected her fae language studies since she was a teen.

All Magilou can do is shrug at the question. Instead of answering it, she deflects: ]

[ Mismatched clothes, you say? Well, Magilou’s got that down pat. What she wore coming into the town might as well be all the clothes she could find in the bargain bin at a rummage sale, so plain gray clothes? They’re probably a step-up to anyone who sees her. At least their eyes might not bleed on sight.

That is, until color seeps back into the cloth, and then it’s some horrible mishmash of red, black, and bright yellow-green. Magilou looks more like a stoplight than a human being by this point, but then again, she’s pretty used to being compared to a sideshow attraction, so it rolls off her back. It’s not going to get her to stop running around town, especially because now she feels more at home in these colors than the drab monochrome.

She decides to take the opportunities presented to her and run with them. Might as well use it as a chance for good advertising, right? It doesn’t take her long to locate a central point in the town, where she uses her blinding colors to her advantage. From her sleeves, she throws barely-concealed confetti—sadly, gray—to try and catch a crowd with a flourish. ]

Welcome, one and all! You are cordially invited to the first show of the traveling troupe of mischievous misfits, renowned the world over: Magilou’s Menagerie! Trademark and date pending. And, uh, troupe pending.

[ A quest about fairy wings, of all things. Magilou has a sense for the spiritual, so she knows all about fairies, and some of them can be bad news. So it’s maybe not a terrible quest; who knows what atrocities they might have committed? Magilou’s not entirely innocent on the “atrocities” part, either.

Still, setting out into the forest and finding fairies sounds like a huge pain. She stands by the quest board for a while, watching people flitter by not unlike fairies themselves. Might as well wonder whether anyone will take the bait or not. ]

Fairies can be a miserable bunch. But who can say whether their hunters are any better for treating them as a mere means to an end? If you were planning on going out there, don't say I didn't warn you.

[ It was a bit foolish for being drawn by the will-o-wisps, but they do have a propensity for luring people to places they shouldn't be. And if Magilou's current predicament is any indication, she's definitely someplace she shouldn't be (not unusual for her, though). She's smacked herself headfirst into... some crystal hydra creature, so that's fun. The impact has made a welt rise on her forehead, which she grasps at while wailing over-dramatically. ]

Don't bother trying to eat me! Witch meat is too bitter a treat, I can assure you!

[ She does have her own magical abilities, but as her little traitorous "catalyst" familiar isn't here, she's basically a sitting duck. Somebody please help her. Or don't, that might be funny from her perspective, too. ]

[ Ruler is walking around, but it doesn't seem like she's that fazed y her horrendous mismatched clothes. In fact, it seems like she's a bit more focused on looking for something... perhaps many somethings.

Will you help me look for more clothes? If we form a collection, everyone can hopefully find something more to their liking.

[ After all, if her clothes are affected like this, others should be, too. ]

[ If there is a feeling that someone needs help, it's not like Jeanne to ignore it. The will-o-wisps are more than suspicious. She knows the folkore, but even so, it's worth investigation. If there truly is someone to help, it will be worth it.

It's just too bad she's attacked by a golem instead. Not that she's unused to this, but there seems to be something different about this golem? In a sparkle of magic light, her armor materializes and her flag standard in her hand. ]

It's faster than normal...!

What's the point of this dumb quest anyway? [ he grumbles to his companion, unsettled, distrustful. and definitely not in the mood to obey. ] And who set it? For what?

[ keith is less concerned about that than the fact that whoever's in there might have answers to what's happening here. of course, the potential of someone needing them is pretty significant, too, but keith intends to get the hell out of here and back to the others, and if something in the woods can help him figure that out, then guess who's his new best friend?

he's veering off towards the woods, looking over to his companion impatiently. ]

C'mon, let's go.

[While Keith is attempting to disrobe, a man approaches in equally hideous garb - though by some miraculous (?) happenstance his pants seem to be the same glorious shade of claw-your-eyes-out-aunt-betty pink. His tunic, on the other hand, is a vibrant orange, and his coat a deep reddish purple that contrasts in the worst of ways. To make matters worse for anyone looking this way, flowers spring up where he walks, also pink but more naturally so and therefore only serving to highlight how godawful his pants and, it seems, Keith's jacket are.

So of course, he's smiling - beaming, in fact, as he sees Keith stripping.]

Ah, how lucky! It matches!

[His voice is pleasant and cheerful. Apparently he actually likes the pink?]

[ There's an odd sight in the woods today: what looks like some sort of death knight going toe to toe with the fairies. She's left destruction in her wake — fallen trees, burnt grass... and a literal trail of bodies. Fairy bodies. The quest only asked for one pair of wings, but where's the harm in delivering more than that?

When she finally corners her latest prey, she grabs a wing in each hand, sneering from under her helmet. ]

Looks like your luck ran out. Sorry, but I'll be taking those wings of yours.

[ And she does, ripping them clean off without a second thought, and dumping the body next to her. Unlike most people, who would probably be disgusted by the bloody mess left behind, she doesn't seem to care. In fact, she seems to be enjoying herself. Gross. ]

[ Or maybe you find her later, when she's gotten her 'reward' from the quest: namely, this shirt. She stares at it for a bit, impassive, then drops it on the ground before turning to the nearest person. ]

What a load of crap... here, take these. [ Whether you were her quest partner before or not, said knight is now trying to offload a pile of bloody fairy wings onto you. Hope you're not wearing anything nice. ]

[ There's no way she's wearing that shirt. But she can't just walk around in her armour all day, either — she's worn that stuffy getup enough for a lifetime already. So she finds some passable clothing, and makes her own modifications; turning the pants into shorts, and cutting the top half high to show off her midriff. It isn't great, but it's good enough...

... at least, until it all suddenly turns a mix of hot pink and blue. ]

Curse this nonsense! Never would I wear such an ugly combination of rags!

[ Which is rich, given her usual fashion sense. She stalks around until she finds someone wearing less eye-searing clothing — or simply still grey and muted — and points at them with a demanding finger. ]

This is a command from a king. Hand over your clothing! [ She isn't kidding. ]

[Nightingale doesn't like this quest. No, not at all. Why were they destroying these creatures? Was it for medicine? Was it for their own good? She needed a reason. Naturally that meant she was going to try to stop it no matter what she needed to do.

Such as catching the body of the poor fallen fairy. She glares at the knight.]

What do you think you're doing?!

[She snaps.] What a disagreeable person... [Don't say that out loud, Florence??]

[ The clothes had seemed (the usual) drab grey when putting them on. Ardyn hadn't been too fussed by the amount of faerie blood on his clothes but apparently that kind of thing sets a bad impression when first meeting someone. So the clothes had been grabbed and donned without much fanfare.

The fanfare comes when the colour seeps back in, Ardyn finding the dull grey changing to the brightest of pinks and neon yellows he could possibly have imagined.

Well. This is something. Even Ardyn can't help but lift an arm up, squinting at the bright pink sleeve.]

I suppose this is something everyone gets used to eventually. Who wants to swap clothes? I'll trade a bright pink for a bright anything else.

[ Normally Ardyn wouldn't have been so inclined to be running errands for someone unknown in a place he's not overly familiar with. Yet the moment he sets eyes on that text is the moment Ardyn knows if he does nothing there'll be no information to use, nothing to hold over someone else's heads. Perhaps listening to the demands of this colourless place would prove fruitful for the time being and if anything it'll be some scenery to see.

It doesn't take long for the Chancellor to find the place the fairies consider to be home, the small creatures flitting to and fro as they take note of the predator that's just waltzed into their midst. Nothing about Ardyn is left to chance, even the saunter of a walk is planned from the get go as he makes his way to the largest concentration of fairies.]

Ah there you are. I hope you all don't mind me coming here. Things to do, you know.

[ It's obvious the fairies can't talk back but from the agitated fluttering of wings Ardyn can only take it as annoyance from the creatures. Good. He's not going to waste any more time on grinning at the fairies, not when there are wings to be had! It just so happens they're as fast as they look and after the first few swipes Ardyn realises that it won't be as easy as expected. Whether he should be intrigued or annoyed is up in the air and each time a fairy retaliates he makes a show of flinching, sometimes wagging a finger at the offender with a click of a tongue and sometimes admonishing it from afar.]

How naughty of you. Ah ah, don't be rude.

[ Soon enough Ardyn manages to snag one of the fairies, using his hat and some quick movements to finally get a hold of the thing. He could have warped and made the whole deal a lot shorter but Ardyn can't guarantee he knows who's watching. Best not to show all his cards on the first round. Ardyn holds the fairy up in one hand, fist clenched around it so only the head and the wings are peeking out between his fingers. He couldn't even consider it a good fight but at least he can appreciate how the other fairies are still swarming around, seemingly planning some kind of a counter attack.]

A good attempt, but at the end of the day it was always going to be like this. We do need your wings after all. [ Ardyn's smile widens a little as he tightens his grip, hoping that the sound he's heard is that of creature's bones starting to creak. With one quick movement and zero hesitation he tears a wing off, holding it in front of the fairy to see as he continues to talk. No-one said anything about making it quick and the spells the others throw at him are nothing more than irritations at the most.] Oh I know, it hurts. Though I wonder, do these grow back? If not, what kind of others would ask for such things hmm?

[ Lights in the woods? It's cliche enough that when Ardyn feels the initial tug he resists it, internally scoffing at the mere idea of it. Luring someone into a place with lights is one of the oldest trick in the books and yet after a good few minutes Ardyn can't help but wander on in there. He wants to see what's causing it and why, what the reasoning is to get someone in there. Normally it would result in someone being eaten or killed. That's normally what went on with such things and Ardyn knows if that's the case whatever it is is in for a shock. Immortals don't go down so easily.

The perpetrator doesn't show up but a hydra certainly does. The fight it puts up is fierce and Ardyn finds himself entertained for the duration, ducking and dodging with an alarmingly casual ease before finally striking it down. Interestingly enough the creature seems made of yellow crystal and irony of that isn't lost on him. The novelty of the place is also beginning to wear off and Ardyn opts to stay by the crystal corpse, head tilted as he listens out to see if anyone else is wandering around. People are infinitely more interesting that trees and if his suspicions are right the ones responsible for the lights will either be long gone or doing nothing more than luring people in for these monsters.]

Hello? Anyone out there? I do hope these monsters haven't eaten you all.

[Sora had gone into the forest, too, equally curious about the lights and what might be behind them. Of course, he expected danger, and after fighting through a few monsters, he hears sounds nearby of a struggle.

He runs over to see if anyone needs help, Keyblade slung over one shoulder, when he finds some guy calling out for others. Maybe he's lost or hurt, so Sora runs to join him in the clearing.]

I'm here! No way I'd let a monster eat me.

[Then Sora spots the crystal hydra the man is standing next to, and gives Ardyn a once-over, impressed.]

Did you take that thing out? You look like you haven't even broken a sweat!

一 Fairies.

The thing is, WangJi is not interested in ripping the wings of the fairy. In fact, he is not planning to, as he watches the little things. He will deliver two wings. The information did not say those would have to not be attached.

Of all the things, he brings out a... zither? to catch a fairy. His face is pale and still, mouth downturned as his hair and the tail ends of the forehead ribbon flutter in the wind.

Then he strums his fingers along the guqin's stings, and a swath of fairies just freeze in mid-air.

二 Will-o-wasps.

The figure dressed in cloud-patterned white is walking tall and straight, if slowly, after the flitting lights, almost glowing in the dimness. Perhaps he ought to be doing that. Perhaps he is far too aware that someone might have followed, before him, and might be in trouble.

He is unafraid.

When he finally does walk into danger, the sword at his waist unsheathes without his touch, a bright white glare emanating from the nearly translucent silver blade.

Not much need to worry about this one.

三 Music.

WangJi is sitting near the shore, the guqin settled in his lap, and his eyes out towards the horizon as his fingers move over the strings. The melody is calming, somehow, even if he is barely infusing it with any spiritual energy. But he does need to practice.

[ He's been in a colorless state of grey apathy for some time, and so missed the arrival of new people. He'd hardly moved for a week; perhaps he's trying to make up for that now, dashing about in a high state of energy, when he hears...

...such tranquil, unmistakeable sounds...

It makes him start for an instant, until he remembers: that old cucumber-head Shen Qingqiu plays the guqin. It had thrown him for a loop the first time he'd heard it, but now that he knows who's playing it, he follows the sound. Presently he discovers a cultivator, with a straight back and flowing robes, seated properly at the guqin. He darts up behind the man, singing out: ]

A-Qiu! A-Qiu! A-Qiu!

[ He makes the nickname sound just like a sneeze. He'd dashed up from behind, but now he circles in front of the man, chattering the whole time: ]

A-Qiu! That's a nice song you're playing, I feel like I might have heard it bef—

[ jun did not expect this. the coconut, slightly off-color as it was, had seemed so safe—he was wrong, because as soon as he drinks some of the pinky-red juice that fills the inside, he finds himself growing… and growing, and growing, until he bonks his head on a nearby tree branch. it hadn’t been that close when he started, but now there is a giant boy with a very small voice that only echoes because he’s just so large. ]

H… help…? Somebody…

ii. proceed fairy carefully

I’ve never seen a fairy before. Do they really just give up their wings like that?

[ someone is going to have to break it to him that the fairies are neither friendly nor willing to hand over their wings like letting you borrow a cup of sugar. deep down, he realizes that it’s probably less like a lizard’s tail and more like the wings of a butterfly, but this town still holds some wholesome magic for him.

can you really shatter the heart of such an innocent middle-schooler? ]

iii. lullaby

[ …miraculously, jun has survived the forest. more than survived the forest, actually. he’s sitting on the ground with a sleeping hydra, as he strokes its neck. it’s cool to the touch, probably because it’s both a reptile and made of crystal internally, but jun doesn’t seem to mind too much.

he hums as he pets it, and anyone with a particular spiritual affinity will notice a great, ghostly figure much larger than jun himself, standing silently nearby. ]

[ says hornet, who looks like she may belong with the monsters of the woods if it weren't for the fact that she came to town through the well like everyone else. she grips a lance with her thin black claw and leads their march into the wilderness in search of the fairies. ]

[The first noticeable part of this scene is the pile of discarded clothes on the ground, each garish fabric color bleeding into one another in the jumble.

Berserker herself is easy to find, too, kneeling next to the mound of clothing, still clad in the outfit in which she was summoned. Its veil and thick white skirts resemble a bride’s wedding dress.

She is picking flowers. When she finds one that is vibrant enough to match one of the articles of clothing, she pairs them up, placing them together in a new arrangement beside her. The matching work is slow-going, however, as there seems to be far more color to the clothing than the plant life in this place. Berserker looks down at the growing bundle of hard-to-place flowers in her hand.

Not much of her face is visible, but what is seems to be furrowed in concern, an actual disappointment in the state of the flowers having taken over her features. There are so many that don’t seem to match any clothing at all, and even the types of flowers that have regained their colors seem so uniform and disappointing compared to what they could have been.]

AUUUUUOOOOUGH!

[As soon as Berserker catches the fairies, they don’t stand a chance.

Once she catches them. Once she catches them.

The problem lies in neither her strength nor her agility; despite her class, Berserker is plenty nimble, plenty quick, and that shows in how quickly she moves when she chases the offending fairies. When it comes to tormenting her, however, the fairies certainly have the upper hand. She has too many buttons, and the creatures are far too adept at pushing them; even if they can’t speak, the fairies seem to be laughing every time they tease her with a painful little shot of magic or jingle a nonexistent bell next to her ear.

The collateral damage around their confrontation obviously yield some hints as to what might happen as soon as she catches the mischief-makers. Decimated bushes wave their bare springs, the torn-off leaves crunching underfoot, and splintered wood and rocks dapple the ground around her.

A fairy hovers just out of reach, tricks her into swinging once, twice, three times. Berserker responds by ramming forward straight into a massive tree trunk. The fairy comes with her, and it smashes back against the wood into an almost indecipherable paste.

It is possible she’s forgotten the reason for the quest after all.]

[Berserker pursues the will o’ wisps in much the same way as she chased the fairies: determined and unstoppable. It doesn’t matter to her how deeply into the darkness she’s led or what might lie beyond it. The pursuit is what matters, and she’s become fixated on what seems to her to be a strange threat.

This is almost certainly how she finds herself approached by at least two banshees—and consequently, how she lacks the impulse to flee from the fight. Teeth bared, a low growl rumbling in her throat, Berserker prepares to stand and fight, the air almost imperceptibly static-thick around her. It seems unlikely that she could be persuaded to stop, but perhaps someone could come and help her.]

it’s more difficult than one might expect, and he thinks his brother would be better at something like this, but she looks so absorbed in her work that he wants to assist. ]

[Sora had unsuspectingly snacked on an apple and has become... well, a lot bigger than a half-pint. Now he has to contend with getting around without causing too much destruction, and find something to eat or drink that will turn him back to normal size. That was how it worked way back in Wonderland, it'll totally work that way here too, right?

When he manages to regain his balance, he puts his hands on his knees and leans down to peer at whoever he almost squished.]

I didn't see you there. Are you okay?

[...Or maybe you run into a tiny Sora, who made the mistake of snacking on some berries this time, and is now even smaller than the quest fairies. He's been running around looking for a flower or something magical that might help him get back to normal size (hey, that had worked back in Wonderland, too), between all the frantic avoiding giant people.

He manages to run and climb up a fence unscathed, and when he notices someone passing by, he cups his hands over his mouth and calls after them in the loudest voice his tiny lungs can muster.]

HEY! Look over here! [Either they don't hear him or they can't see him, he thinks, so he tries again.] --No, you're going the wrong way! Come back!

[He gives up and sits on the fence with a sigh, dejected. Maybe he'll take a breather for a second before he keeps looking...]

[Sora's adventured enough to know by now that a light in the woods could either be helpful, or a trap to lure him into danger. He's also a seasoned enough adventurer to not really be afraid of whatever dangers some dark woods might hold for him, and so his curiosity gets the better of him and he follows the little wisp through the woods.

Sure enough, he's ambushed by a group of hobgoblins, and quickly summons his Keyblade to hand. Time to clear out some monsters!]

[ The thing about this guy is that he divides at an alarming rate... in normal circumstances. But it seems here he's only able to make and support so much that he can actually provide for himself. Which is substantial, sure, but not as much as he'd like to have produced at this point.

[ There are only a few puppets left from January's forced fairy tale event, and the ones that remain are mostly shredded, bearing evidence of multiple repairs to their arms, legs, and even heads. Their painted-on eyes still glow a brilliant red, however. Several of them shuffle up to the man with his copy and stare at him, their heads tilted askance.

Then they start to reach for the copy. ]

[ though she may be some sort of insect, hornet is regularly just around five feet and is relatively tall for her kind. however after eating a piece of blue fruit she has now shrunk down to a size of a large (regular-large) spider, and skitters around looking for a way to fix this predicament.

this leads her to invade your kitchen and start hopping around the area, looking for a way to open up the cabinets and search for a yellow fruit before she's spotted. ]

02. (fairy quest)

[ you and hornet have begun the quest to kill the fairies, but hornet has never learned the valuable lesson of sharing is caring. she jumps around the trunks with quick grace befitting her name, launching herself with lance in tow to strike the fairies with quick precision.

yet in the act she neglects to look out for her partner, or to even consider that she may be kill stealing. really all she's thinking is that she wishes she didn't have to do this quest with a second person. hope you don't mind? ]

[ nocturnal as she is, hornet sleeps through most of the day and only emerges at night to explore the town. most of it is abandoned buildings and the inhabited ones she knows better than to set foot into another's home. she flits about on the roofs, jumping from one to the other with light step, until she arrives at the library.

she goes inside and begins scouring the texts, not too certain what she will find but more curious about discovery. however if the door were to creak open at this dead of night, instinct would trigger her to take her lance and throw it to strike to the wall beside the doorway! sorry for almost killing you. ]

Aaaaw, are we feeling a little cranky today? You should take a nap.

[as witty as that pre-battle quip might be, there's no way she's keeping that sass as she rushes forward and thrusts her weapon at the hydra's neck, only to strike solid crystal instead of flesh and bone. the calm, almost excited expression she wore fades into shock as she attempts to yank her weapon free. but the blow was powerful enough to bury the entire spear head into crystal, so. . . that spear sure is stuck, and isn't freeing itself anytime soon]

[clearly angry at having its territory infringed upon and having its neck cut open, the hydra swings its head up and to the side, lifting Judy off of her feet and flinging her clean into the air. if you're around and not being paid attention, you might be a prime landing spot for a flying kritya. do you catch her? or do you get squashed underneath her weight??]

[Quite frankly, tampering with food is completely unforgivable. It's blatant discrimination against princesses with black holes for stomachs, a group Gwendolyn just so happens to be a part of.]

a. looking more like a bird than a fairy at this size
[It's exactly why she's found herself in this predicament; she isn't actually unused to being shrunken down to such a size, as the mushrooms of ringford forest were capable of having this kind of effect on a person, but that doesn't make it any less stressful. Not to mention she could actually dismiss the effects of those mushrooms herself if she found herself in trouble, something she can't actually seem to do here.

However, the fact Gwendolyn can fly gives her an advantage in this situation; there's far less risk of being stepped on by an errant foot, which is a small comfort. Depending on how much attention you're paying however, it's entirely possible she simply passes you by, finds herself forced to take a sharp turn to avoid colliding with your body or, worst case scenario, crashes into the back of your head. Pick your poison.]

b. That one steven universe song
[It was initially a relief to find that eating some berries she'd found seemed to reverse the shrinking effect, but it wasn't long before she found another big problem in that the growing didn't stop. Heck, being a little taller wasn't too bad , but right now she's so big she's stuck on her hands and knees in the forest because she's finding it difficult to move around standing up. To make matters worse, some of the faeries are clearly finding a lot of delight in this girl who can't really retaliate given they're just too damn small for her to try and grab.]

Just stop bothering me! I have enough to contend with at the moment!

[In frustration she does swat at some faeries with one hand, but not only do they easily evade her lashing out at them, but with only one hand holding her up and a much larger body she's completely unused to moving around with, she falls forward and lands face first on the ground.

Once she's picked herself up, she sees you! ...but she neglects to say anything. In fact, Gwendolyn actually looks away; you've found a giant, embarrassed princess.]

2. night in the woods

[Given everything here seems designed to be a nuisance, she does briefly consider the fact the sense of concern she feels might be misguided. It could just be another trick. Unfortunately, Gwendolyn's a fairly heroic girl; she heads out into the woods almost immediately in search of the light she'd seen, deeper and deeper until she stumbles upon a hydra.

Fortunately, she's fairly used to finding monsters like this. Back to her usual size, she's moving with her usual grace and athleticism, weaving in between attacks and striking back with the usual, crystal tipped spear she's carrying. Sometimes her strikes even leave the surface of the hydra's body she's struck frozen in a layer of ice.

But hey, if you happen to be around for the same reason, why not help a girl out? It's the right thing to do. Alternatively, if she happens to find you under attack, she'll gladly step in and offer assistance.]

A. Obligatory Mysterious Idiot Wizard In A Tavern Prompt

[ Was there ever actually a tavern here? Well if not, there is now, and there's nothing you can do about it. ... though honestly, someone probably should. Why is the beer such a strange color, anyway?

Well, no matter the color, someone is at least curious enough to sample some! A man with ridiculously long almost iridescent white hair perches on a stool at the bar, peering at a mug of the local brew with delighted curiosity.]

My, my. [He sniffs it and it smells like ordinary beer, all malty and yeasty.] I've heard of novelty green beers, but this is something else. Ah well - bottom's up, eh?

[And with that, he takes a nice long drink, letting out a satisfied ahh afterwards. Listen, it's been a very long time since he's gotten to have an actual drink in person, so he's going to savor it.

Except wait a moment...

Has he just shrunk a few inches? Oh dear... And a second swallow shrinks him further! Hopefully some kind soul will point this out to him before he's small enough to drop the glass? Or at least catch it before it shatters... Either way, he's probably going to need help getting off the stool when the shrinking doesn't stop until he's two feet high and dangling precariously.]


B. Laziness Personified

[As defending champion of the World's Oldest Shut-in title, Merlin of course finds his way to his assigned home and his own laptop, and of course he can't help commenting on this latest quest, even if he doesn't actually know the purpose of the quests yet.]

C. Buff Time!

[Out in the woods, if you wander enough, you might eventually come across a trail of small pink flowers meandering through the trees. If you follow it, eventually you'll find Merlin, clad in eye-searing neon yellow, puce, and magenta, hiding behind a tree and peering around it at a very angry hydra, hissing and spitting. Somehow, the hydra's tail is currently caught in tree roots that have magically twisted around to grab it, but it won't stay that way for long.

As you approach, Merlin turns to look at you sidelong, smiling brightly, his purple eyes dancing in eager delight.]

Ah, you're just in time! Hurry up and kill that thing while it's trapped!

[Now, mind you, Merlin is carrying around what is obviously a wizard's staff, and attached to the staff is a sheathed short sword, so why he's not fighting the hydra himself is anyone's guess, but hey listen maybe he just doesn't want to get blood splattered over his nice new neon atrociti-- er ... clothing! or maybe he's just lazy...

Either way, you were definitely exploring the woods because you wanted to fight a monster... right?]

[ magical girls have colour motifs - that's how it is, and how it always has been. it's almost a "rule" that Mami has observed from both her time fighting witches and watching fictional heroes of justice on TV. motifs and themes are important to your identity, even if she wouldn't admit as much out loud.

Mami's colour is a pleasant yellow; not the sickening shades of green and orange that her new dress has taken. needless to say, she isn't pleased. it feels silly to be embarrassed about it, but appearances can be important in one's everyday life.

it's usually enough to snap her fingers and use her magic to change something about her clothes or hair, but this time it doesn't seem to do anything. she's not about to try again and risk something bad happening, but she sighs with an exasperated smile as she looks down at the outfit, taking in its eye-popping colour scheme. ]

I suppose it can't be helped...

[ her attempt to "blend in" has failed miserably, but it seems like she isn't the only one. she spots someone who's having a similar problem, her smile taking an empathetic tone. ]

It looks like we're in the same boat. Do things like this happen often...?

[ hunting witches is something that Mami has worked into her daily routine, but finding herself in a strange new place hasn't rattled it in the least. she can't assume that there simply aren't witches here - wherever there is misfortune and sadness, they're sure to appear. even without Kyuubey to remind her of it, she can't afford to let an innocent person die because of her neglect.

the woods feels like the most obvious place to start, seeing as it's a quiet, secluded place that might attract a person in despair. the lights attract her attention immediately - even though her soul gem isn't sensing any trace of a witch, she feels compelled to keep exploring.

the lights are almost hypnotizing, and the only thing illuminating her surroundings are them and the glow of her soul gem. she snaps out of it when she hits something large and solid that growls at her - a golem marked with a large VIII, with one arm sharpened like a double-edged blade and the other holding a flail with a ball and chain on both sides. she snaps out of her trance and immediately jumps back, holding tightly to her soul gem. her brow furrows in confusion as she tries to ascertain what she's facing, but it doesn't look friendly. ]

You may not be a witch, but I won't allow you hurt anyone!

[ seeing as she's (seemingly) alone, she doesn't hesitate to initiate her transformation, causing enough light to briefly illuminate the area and a strong wind to gust through the surrounding trees. she jumps up to a high branch, using her new perspective to summon her muskets begin shooting at the monster. she seems to be alright in the moment, but that could easily change. ]

Just as he is walking by the woods, he happens to see a figure walk into it. At first, he thinks it might be his imagination -- or more likely, the woods fucking with him. But as he starts to continue on his way, he takes note that the person walking in actually is a person! Fuck! Shen Qingqiu is already sprinting forward to try to catch up with whomever entered. He has a problem -- what with the woods being labyrinth in their own right, and the lights seemingly attempting to lead him elsewhere -- but he hear a clear voice call out through the quiet of the forest. That helps him to sprint towards the sound. But really, it is the light illuminating the area that helps him in the end.

...... was that a magical girl transformation!? He is struck dumb by the sight as he catches the tail-end. Of all the things that he expected to see, that had not been one of them. A real magical girl. With a real fucking gun?! WHAT THE FUCK!? ]

He doesn't like to admit it, but he's way out of his league when it comes to a place like this, where none of the colors make sense and it feels like he'd been plopping into the middle of a storybook. The smallest blessings is that his eye powers still work, eyes a bright bright red just like the apples he'd plucked off this tree, as he peers out around the surrounding area. ]

[ He waves down the nearest passerbyer to the grove, a boy around 17 perched high up on one of the taller apple trees, legs swinging idly beneath the branch upon which he sits. ]

[ It's hilarious, though, isn't it? The pinks and purples and neon greens and it just clashes so badly— even worse is the sound of laughter, a valiant but short-lived attempt to stifle it, and then it's just full blown laughter.

It's not the situation Kano's laughing at, but you. Specifically you. He's pointing and everything, other hand clutching his stomach because he's laughing so hard. And you can't even return the favor, because he's somehow still wearing monochrome black and white, the only thing being in color being the bright red in his eyes. ]

[ Kano wouldn't know where to find fairies, but there's very few other place to look, seeing as they're not flitting around the town itself. He really doesn't like the feel of the woods, though, the darkness and the density of the trees. A bad idea. A bad, bad, bad, bad idea.

And yet, he finds himself inside the forest anyways, wandering and listening and trying to ignore those lights in favor of sticking to a straight path so that he might find his way back. But when he sees other people in the woods...

That light you're following out in the distance? A similar one blinks over to the side of you, close enough to catch your attention, far enough that it's hard to make out the figure standing behind the light, aside from the fact that the person waits until you're fully turned to face them, and then they run off a little further into the woods, presumably in hopes of you giving chase. ]

[ it's hard to miss being called to by someone from above, but Kano's striking red eyes are what Mami notices once she looks up. she doesn't question it for the time being, but tucks it away in favour of addressing him. if there's someone that needs help, that takes her top priority! ]

[ Gokotai getting all teary-eyed is not unusual He's got a little bird in his hands... except that isn't a bird that really shouldn't be little. It's clucking like a grown and robust chicken, not peeping like a little chick.]

I'm sorry... I didn't know the food would do that. I'll try and fix this, okay.

[ ...One shrunk, squawking chicken is not too big of a deal. Except Gokotai didn't feed just one. There's a flock of a bunch of mini chickens, hopping around his feet and wanting more marshmallow...

Gokotai why did you feed them marshmallow? ]

[ The gray clothes weren't too bad! Gokotai even felt kind of cozy in them, like a gray... Duckling? Lamb? Bunny? Something nice. Then he turns I to a way too colorful watermelon of pink and greens, with some turquoise for good measure. To anyone who is also afflicted by the sudden color change into neon hideous-ness. ]

Let's... trade clothes! Then we'll have things that match a little better. I don't want to stick out like this.

[ He has the appearance of a child, but the clothes on him do look pretty oversized. He doesn't seem to mind at least? ]

[ You wouldn't think Gokotai would be interested in getting fairy wings for a quest when he comes to realize that the wings need to be ripped off. That actually led to some hesitation and bit of bullying by said fairies.

But when all is said and done. Gokotai actually has a few pairs. He's holding them carefully like they're old photographs, in awe of their sparkle. ]

These are the fairy wings the quest wanted... Do you need help getting them? Torakun and I can get them for you.

[ Torakun being the full-grown tiger lying down nearby. He's a little dirty like Gokotai, and both of them have little streaks of blood from the fairy fights. But that is a white tiger spirit chilling out, batting a piece of a wing until its shattered into tiny pieces, much to his disappointment. ]

[Seeing all these chickens around her, proportionally small compared to her as they should be, is...strange. On the one hand it almost feels like the world is the size it should be, but on the other hand who on earth is responsible for this? Clearly someone terrible and--

Oh, it's a teary eyed kid, actually. Suddenly her heart is aching.

Of course, it might be hard to comfort Gokotai while fairy sized, but she'd at least like to try. Gwendolyn's wings extend at the waist and with a beat of her wings she flies up to eye level with him.]

Are you the one responsible for shrinking these chickens?

[Her tone is questioning rather than accusatory. Trying to be gentle with him...which isn't hard right now.]

[The voice seems to be coming from farther up...if you take a look you'll see...a really huge face staring out at you from a window. In fact, it's big enough parts of Yuuri's face is being blocked by the window. She looks close to tears.]

[If you came along with her, you're in luck! For some reason, once the two of you found the fairies they all suddenly...fell to the ground. How convenient!

(She's hoping you ignore the fact that, right before they fell they had been clutching at their throats like they couldn't breathe.)

They're alive though! Just passed out. Yuuri presses a hand to her mouth like she's as surprised at this turn of events as you are.]

O-oh! That was unexpected! Do you think they're taking a nap?
