Prompt 1:
t happens in a flash. One second you're wandering the Town, living your casual, day-to-day life, and the next? You're suddenly face to face with a sweet fairy godmother. She's beautiful, and kind, and warm-hearted, tutting at you gently and encouraging you to just "answer a few questions for me, dearie".
If you don't, she'll just keep following you around, so maybe you should just get it over with...?
The questions she asks, are, well... a little personal. Have you ever killed someone? Have you ever had sex? Have you ever been jealous of someone else? Have you ever stolen? Have you ever been unkind?
The questions go on and on in that vein, growing increasingly unfair, until there's one you just can't answer -- and then she sighs, shaking her head, and declares you "not pure of heart at all". And then she'll cast a curse on you, before disappearing in a poof of nothingness.
The curse can do any of the following things: 1. Force you to only speak the truth, no matter how you try. 2. Make your powers run amuck, no matter how competent you are with them otherwise. 3. Just generally remove your inhibitions, so that you'll do things you'd normally be convinced are a bad idea.
Of course, if you're totally pure of heart and can answer everything yes a la Disney princesses, you won't get cursed at all. She'll pat you on the head before disappearing, you lucky duck, you.
Prompt 2:
t comes upon you like an absolutely ridiculous urge, one that's surely the Town's doing -- one moment you're walking, the next, the moment you see someone else, you feel the urge to intensely, fiercely engage in an insults battle.
This can take the form of flowery Shakespearean insults, or a rap battle, or who knows what else -- all your character knows is that they desperately have to win this battle of insults with this total stranger. Get to it!
Prompt 3:
he quest sits proudly and clearly on the quest post on the forum. It seems simple, too:
Quest 87 Beautify the Kraken Requirements: Any two colors.
Surely you can manage that much! So off to the harbor you go to find a kraken. That's actually the easy part; the kraken will emerge to anyone wading into the woods.
The much harder part is...beautifying it. Good luck trying to put some lipstick on it as it tries to drag you down into the depths! How much eyeshadow would a kraken even need? Do you even have any make-up on you from this desolated Town?
Prompt 4:
here's something weird about the Town today. It's foggy, and dark, and gloomy, which is a far cry from the typical summer warmth... and oddly silent too, as if the fog is muffling all sound. It gets quieter the closer you get to the well, too... and it feels like something is watching you.
Which is because, quiet simply, something is. It's a small, white porcelain doll, without a face. It just appears wherever you walk, staring you down as you go. It won't move while you're watching it, but as soon as you turn around...
It's suddenly right there next to you.
It doesn't actually want to hurt you. It's just there, following you, constantly... how obnoxious, this isn't a horror film!

Shen Qingqiu is able to maintain his aloof expression, of course, but it is so fucking quiet. Brooding hero?! Seriously! Well, I'm sorry, I can't be the plucky side-kick, okay!? This old man is a mid-BOSS just trying to live! He makes a few more comments to himself as they walk quietly to the docks.
His fan comes out to lightly tap it against his chin. Just for something to do, I guess. It certainly makes me look thoughtful, huh? This bullshitting is pretty good. I'm quite impressed with myself. Patting himself on the back a few times, he cheers about how good he is at being quiet ... then promptly spaces out the rest of the time until they get to the docks. ]
See? Is it not a peaceful sight?
no subject
The stirring is there again. Before, he had at least the sense to look for a place to rest. Now an increasingly noisy part of him bids that he take to the marbled pathway for sleep, and only a small part can protest how ludicrous the idea is. There's no feeling of unease—that's somehow been done away with—and so he can only rely on his own reason to walk on, oblivious to Shen Qingqiu's grousing.
His eyes focus on the harbor water. It's dark and lifeless, yet he looks to it as there's a splash.
This . . . is peaceful? ]
Something lurks beneath the surface.
no subject
[ Work with me here! ]
It would be wise not to jump into the waters. I believe I said that once before... it is also not that there is something beneath the surface, but the water itself feels as though there is something wrong with it.
[ Actually, looking at the waters and everything, it seems more like Shen Qingqiu is about to give some villainous speech about how foolish his companion was to believe in him before shoving him in!! He didn't mean it like that!! He just was trying to be positive for fuck's sake!! It's not the best looking thing, but if one looks at something positively enough, it might turn into something else!
It was a bad idea! He has many regrets! But he's already here! So fuck it!!! ]
Still, one can collect their thoughts in the quiet... don't you think?
no subject
It was quiet in the house too, he thinks. Even here, it's taking everything in him to convince himself that he shouldn't drop and roll over on this very ground.
He can't deny that the water has caught his interest. It should serve as a sufficient distraction for the time being, until he can find a more viable solution for the long run. ]
What sort of thoughts does a man like yourself collect in the quiet?
no subject
There certainly are a lot of thoughts that he collects by himself, but none of them are those that he could share with others easily. He pauses as he crosses his arms -- and takes one step forward to look out to the waters. Shen Qingqiu builds up the quiet by making it seem like his thoughts are vast and complex. Bullshitting someone I just met ... I feel a little bad about it, but I don't think it'll work out if I act otherwise. ]
Let's see... I often think of how I could better help others. It is not simply the actions that I take but the words that I choose. There are times that even an old man like myself needs to reflect upon my actions.
[ Like now!! Like definitely now!!! ]
no subject
You do not look so old to me.
[ Neither does he, but he's no mortal. Could the same be true for this stranger, who offers help in the blink of an eye? Not many would have taken the same actions as Shen Qingqiu after finding a trespasser in their own home. ]
no subject
[ He wonders if he should feel troubled that his heart doesn't even beat a little faster as he puts on so many airs. It seems like something he should be a little anxious about!! But at the same time, he's been bullshitting for well over six years now. If he didn't get used to it by then, he might actually end up with some heart issue.
HAHAHAHA! Just kidding! Just kidding!! The world better not give him some fucking shitty condition after he got over his poisoning! He'll fucking sue someone for it!! ]
It means that I have become immortal and stopped my aging.
no subject
His answer is a nod. He's heard enough and won't pry. ]
Reflecting upon one's actions is the duty of more than just mortals. But, all too often, doing so shackles us to our past.
no subject
[ Or shackle someone to the future!! He's still a little terrified of what awaits him in a few years, okay?! It isn't something that a little heart-to-heart in his heart can easily take away. But he's listened to everyone and feels like he has a good idea of how to change his own unfortunate fate. He hopes!! ]
However, that may be because a person is focusing on the guilt of what happened rather than how to ensure the future is different. Guilt can be blinding but we should always attempt to make amends to those that we've hurt...
