These are the mem’ries that last. These are the mem’ries that will never pass. And time waits for no one. It’s gone in a flash. And only the mem’ries will last.

Prompt 1: he forest looms, uninviting and full of menace, an unwelcoming place for sure. Time to go explore! It isn't as though there's anywhere else to go, now that you've looked around the Town. The trees whack at you with branches that have far too much mobility for normal trees, strange and mutated animals watch from the shadows and boughs, and there’s the constant, constant sense of being watched -- But eventually, nonetheless, you’ll come across a small house in the forest. It sticks out like a sore thumb, bright and colorful, which is probably the first warning that something is way off, and it’s...covered in candy. It’s a candy house! It looks delicious. (It’s empty, too, not a single soul in it, without even furniture, but everything is otherwise edible and utterly delicious.) But if you eat the candy? You’re going to have a terrible, overwhelming urge to do one of two things: Fight the first person you see Kiss the first person you see Unfortunate. Prompt 2: he problem with a Town like this is that now that color is starting to return, bit by bit? You never really know when color’s going to come back -- or disappear. Maybe you’ve made a delightful, delicious sandwich from handmade bread and tomatoes and deer meat, all of which have color now… and then suddenly, when taking a bite, you get only the taste of ash and bread and tomato as the deer meat loses color. Also, someone probably died for that color to fade away. Alarming! Or maybe you’re walking along when suddenly your makeshift clothing is a hideous mix-match of colors; it had seemed fine when it was all grey and colorless! Or perhaps, even worse, you’re walking out of a house when suddenly, the flowerbed in front of it has full color, bright and maybe a little blinding after so much monochrome. Damn those color mechanics. Prompt 3: he quest seems simple, on the Quest Post: Quest 33: Feed the Cockatrice. Requirements: 2 of any color Key word, of course, is seems. First, you have to find the cockatrice. Maybe grab someone to drag into the woods with you, since there needs to be at least two of you. Time to stomp through the woods in search of the elusive cockatrice. Of course, once you find it, the quest...looks a bit harder. The monster hisses, ready to turn anyone who approaches to stone, as cockatrice tend to do. What do you even feed that thing? How will you get it to take it without getting stoned up? There are so many questions. At least the stone will wear off...eventually… if you’re unlucky enough to get petrified. Prompt 4: ut hey, you did it! You fed the cockatrice, it seemed satisfied, and now you can go fetch your reward from your home. It must be something amazing, with the work that you put in. The only change in your home, though, is what looks like a...picture book. It's got a colorful cover (in your character's color shade), and has their name on the cover, so it definitely belongs to them. And when they flip it open, it's clearly full of pictures scribbled in, as if drawn in scribbly crayon. Unlike the rest of the Town, this book is fully colorful, every shade of the rainbow in those crayon strokes... which depict, page by page, your character's worst moments in their life. Every single last horrific experience or tragic moment -- it's all there, in colorful, cute children's drawings. Congratulations! Extra: Got something in mind? Want to play with the setting more? [ Holy crap a candy house. Mafuyu has not read enough books to know what this might mean, going straight for the bright reds and breaking off large chunks of rock candy. This is all hers. There is no need for any mysterious magical influence over her will, she will fight any person who so much as sets their eyes on the house, aiming a straight punch straight to the sternum with no warning whatsoever. ]

What's a cockatrice?

[ The rest of the quest Mafuyu seems to have figured out, her arms full of all sorts of colored food- candy, fruits... mostly candy. But there's no feeding without a target, so in the meantime, she traipses through the forest crunching lollipops and chewing on the sticks, shouting all along the way. ]

Hey, cockatriiiiiicce! Come out here and show your face!

[ Surely that will get the creature to appear. ]

What the heck...?

[ Mafuyu frowns at the book. She hasn't even opened it yet, and already she's disappointed— it had to be a book, nothing she can eat. A useless prize. At least it's a picture book and not one with a lot of words, and she flips through it with mild disinterest.

Her, with long blond hair and a middle schooler's uniform, getting handcuffed by the cops.

Her, with a knife embedded on the wall half an inch from the side of her head, her mother looming before her.

Her, lying on the ground, bloody and bruised with a boy standing in front of her, broomstick in his hands. ]

Amazing... This is amazing. [ The art? The story? No. ] This is me, right? All this is stuff about me? That means somebody's a really big fan of me, right?!

[ How else would they know!! She looks absolutely delighted.]

[That's the most disturbing children's book he's ever seen? Guren is here, by the way, standing behind her and staring over her shoulder like he's trying to figure out. He expects... a normal reaction, you know? Upset. He doesn't doubt that the scenes are real, and that they're personal and—

Oh. She's just excited.]

Seriously? That's your reaction to this?

[buncho]

Yes?

[ It is what it is... And Mafuyu doesn't see the problem, turning the book around and shoving the childish scrawls in Guren's face. It's a picture of her, maybe four years old, getting lifted off the ground by somebody grabbing her hair. The next page is her getting flung across the street. ]

What the hell is wrong with you?

[He pushes the book back after catching enough of all of it. He doesn't want to see more people with fucked up lives, it's upsetting!!]

No one wants to see something like this!

[buncho]

[ What's wrong with her? What's wrong with him? Mafuyu pouts a little, taking the book back and clutching it to her chest. ]

It's like a photo album. I've never had one of those, you know? These are all my precious memories!

[ They're... happy memories..... somewhat. ]

[swordfucker]

[That makes it sound cute, and it's enough to get Guren to pause, placing a hand on his hip. But... She was just getting beat up all over?]

Those were precious memories to you? They didn't look all that pleasant.

[ Iori would love to blame the environment for his exhaustion, he really would, but he's pretty sure his company has more to do with it than anything. The trees beating on him aren't helping, though, and overall his patience is short ]

It's probably some kind of bird which means yelling is only going to scare it away. Animals don't know what species they are so calling it that isn't going to do any good.

[ Sorry you got stuck with this guy, Mafuyu. No one would blame you if you tried to lose him out here. ]

[ Maybe she will feed him to the bird.

But with information like that, her kneejerk reaction is to listen to whoever sounds the smartest and/or seems to know what they're doing, so she clamps her mouth shut. For about half a second before she's shouting again; this is just her normal "speaking" volume. ]

That's fine! If it runs away, then we'll chase after it! It's got to make some noise when it does that, and then we'll know where it is!

[offfocal]

[ If she keeps eating all the things she brought, she might have to. Iori, for his part, has a loaf of bread and some vegetables. Birds like things like that, he's sure.

It feels nice to have his input acknowledged but she's no quieter, so he's not really sure how much she actually listened. ]

If it's a bird and it flies away and we have to go after it while dealing with these trees, I doubt we'll--

[ He's cut off by a sound he doesn't recognize, not overly loud but still something that grabs his attention. It's a strange flapping noise, and through the trees there's a visible movement. Not very far ahead, either. Ah ha. ]

I think it's that way...

[buncho]

[ Birds can fly. This is a fact that she should know, and a problem she should have anticipated, but rather than wasting time to formulate a plan right here, she motions them to give chase and think of a plan on the run. ]

We have to go after it! You take the right, I'll go left, and we'll pincer it!

[offfocal]

[ Iori would be so disappointed to learn that flight wasn't something she even considered when dealing with a bird, but instead he's finding himself being bossed around. His first instinct is to resist but really... that makes as much sense as anything. ]

All right, but be careful. We don't know how it will react to being cornered.

I think it's some kind of bird monster that can turn people into stone?

[Kaoru knows this only because she plays video games. She's following along while floating in the air because since when does a psychokinetic need to walk..?

And while she's at it, she's stealing a piece of candy. She's hungry, okay?]

Maybe we need some kind of bait?

Ohh, how cool!

[ It's... It's cool, okay? Objectively, that's an awesome power, fantastical in that Mafuyu comes from a very very normal world where she'll never see anything of the sort, even in video games because all she plays are button mashing fighting ones.

Also cool is being able to fly, what the heck. ]

Think you can be bait?

[ said with no malice whatsoever, but. ]

...I'm not sure I'd call it cool. It sounds annoying.

[She prefers online games. RPGs are nice. She could enjoy them with Shiho without constantly losing.

And she's actually thinking about it as she unwraps the candy and pops it in her mouth.]

I don't know how to be bait.

Being bait is easy! You just gotta run around and not get caught!

[ She makes it sound so easy! But that's what it is, and it's a very simple plan, if it works: Kaoru gets the creature's attention, and Mafuyu sneaks up behind it and gives it a good roundhouse kick in the back of the head, knock it unconscious and get it to close its eyes, and then they can safely pour some candy into its mouth. ]

Easy, huh...

[Even Kaoru sounds a bit doubtful...and she's not usually the person in her team that doubts people! Still, she can't ask Mafuyu to be bait...that seemed too dangerous.

Then again, she doesn't have any better idea so...]

Unless this thing likes girls in miniskirts I'm not sure if I'll be useful as bait but there's no harm in trying, I guess.

[Walking through a break in the trees, Keigo makes it as far as thinking, "Huh, that looks like a candy h-" before someone punches him. For once, he truly didn't do anything (yet) to deserve it.]

What was that for?! I didn't do anything!

[He clutches his chest where the pain throbs. Did she hit him hard enough to stop his heart? He's probably going to die!]

[buncho]

[ Mafuyu is very capable of punching somebody hard enough to stop their heart, probably, but her punch would have been a lot harder if she had a good stance and wasn't clutching fistfulls of cherry licorice. ]

That's a warning! [ With her fist! Instead of words, as it is. ] So you don't go running off with all this without me, okay!? We're in this together!

[The pain is forgotten. There's a girl who wants to team up with him.]

I'm ready to stay by your side!

[buncho]

[ This girl just almost broke your ribs, p l e a s e ]

Yeah, we've got to break apart this entire house so we can take it with us. You start from the other end and I'll take this side!

[ already... he's being banished to stay away. but this is also part of teamwork. ]

I can't carry a whole house.

[As slowly as possible, he makes his way towards his designated side of the house. He isn't completely willing to rebel. In the name of teamwork! But he didn't think staying by her side would include so much distance between them.]

You think so? I was worried about a stalker, maybe, or perhaps some cruel god, but a genuine fan sounds a lot better, doesn't it?

[would that...ever be likely... Not for him or for her, if the glimpse he got is anything to go by.]

A stalker means they're interested in me! That's the same as a fan! Even a cruel god would be awesome-- it means a god's paying attention to me!

[ All of this boils down to attention, the concept that somebody out there notices her existence, and there is absolutely nothing better than being noticed and remembered and considered. ]

[HONEY, LEARN TO LOVE YOURSELF!!! But he can’t exactly say these are unfamiliar thoughts to be kicking around, now can he? He hums, as if continuing in his amusement.]

It’s good you think so. In my experience, gods are usually either cruel or useless beings... [And then, with a tilt of his head,] What would you do if I said a god was paying attention to you right now?

[buncho]

Do? Nothing...? [ What is she supposed to do, shout "hello" or "thank you" into the void? Mafuyu's never been one for communicating with the gods and she doesn't know where to start now. ]

I guess if a god's watching, I'd ask for something only a god can do. Like turn the rest of these houses into candy.
