Prompt 1:
he forest looms, uninviting and full of menace, an unwelcoming place for sure. Time to go explore! It isn't as though there's anywhere else to go, now that you've looked around the Town.
The trees whack at you with branches that have far too much mobility for normal trees, strange and mutated animals watch from the shadows and boughs, and there’s the constant, constant sense of being watched --
But eventually, nonetheless, you’ll come across a small house in the forest. It sticks out like a sore thumb, bright and colorful, which is probably the first warning that something is way off, and it’s...covered in candy. It’s a candy house! It looks delicious.
(It’s empty, too, not a single soul in it, without even furniture, but everything is otherwise edible and utterly delicious.)
But if you eat the candy? You’re going to have a terrible, overwhelming urge to do one of two things:
- Fight the first person you see
- Kiss the first person you see
Unfortunate.
Prompt 2:
he problem with a Town like this is that now that color is starting to return, bit by bit? You never really know when color’s going to come back -- or disappear. Maybe you’ve made a delightful, delicious sandwich from handmade bread and tomatoes and deer meat, all of which have color now… and then suddenly, when taking a bite, you get only the taste of ash and bread and tomato as the deer meat loses color.
Also, someone probably died for that color to fade away. Alarming!
Or maybe you’re walking along when suddenly your makeshift clothing is a hideous mix-match of colors; it had seemed fine when it was all grey and colorless!
Or perhaps, even worse, you’re walking out of a house when suddenly, the flowerbed in front of it has full color, bright and maybe a little blinding after so much monochrome. Damn those color mechanics.
Prompt 3:
he quest seems simple, on the Quest Post:
Quest 33: Feed the Cockatrice. Requirements: 2 of any color Key word, of course, is seems. First, you have to find the cockatrice. Maybe grab someone to drag into the woods with you, since there needs to be at least two of you. Time to stomp through the woods in search of the elusive cockatrice.
Of course, once you find it, the quest...looks a bit harder. The monster hisses, ready to turn anyone who approaches to stone, as cockatrice tend to do. What do you even feed that thing? How will you get it to take it without getting stoned up? There are so many questions.
At least the stone will wear off...eventually… if you’re unlucky enough to get petrified.
Prompt 4:
ut hey, you did it! You fed the cockatrice, it seemed satisfied, and now you can go fetch your reward from your home. It must be something amazing, with the work that you put in.
The only change in your home, though, is what looks like a...picture book. It's got a colorful cover (in your character's color shade), and has their name on the cover, so it definitely belongs to them.
And when they flip it open, it's clearly full of pictures scribbled in, as if drawn in scribbly crayon. Unlike the rest of the Town, this book is fully colorful, every shade of the rainbow in those crayon strokes... which depict, page by page, your character's worst moments in their life. Every single last horrific experience or tragic moment -- it's all there, in colorful, cute children's drawings.
Congratulations!

Toboe | Wolf's Rain
[Forests are usually pretty comforting for Toboe actually. Usually. He's a wolf, even if he was raised more like a domestic puppy, he's still a wolf! So it was a no brainer to slip out of the town. And once he's out of the town, there's no reason to keep up his human illusion, right?
So what people are likely to see is a small brown wolf (a normal wolf, nothing mutated about him, though he is wearing bracelets around one paw). Of course, what someone is also likely to see is that small brown wolf being startled by an overly large bird and running full tilt away from it, to hide behind whoever might be nearby. He's still working on being brave all the time.]
[ Prompt 1 (B) ]
[Since a house usually means people, Toboe is back to pretending to be human once more. He's poking around the house, sniffing at it. And since he's a wolf and doesn't have the benefit of the fairytale knowledge necessary to know better than to chew on fancy candy houses in the woods, he's definitely trying a bite.
But he will ask if you happen to be nearby,]
...why would someone make a house out of food? That's weird, right? Am I gonna get in trouble?
[But if he's not stopped? He's taking a bite. Bleeeh too sweet. Really.
And then there's Toboe, making his way back. Anyone he comes upon though, prepare to have a small cheerful bundle of energy leaping to plant a kiss on your cheek. Weird that it kind of feels more like he licked than kissed though, right? Weird. Super weird. And then, a sheepish laugh.] Sorry... that was probably sudden.
[ Prompt 3 ]
[Toboe is a watcher more than a doer. And he's been watching, and he totally watched that thing turn another weird animal to stone and that is NOT OKAY. He's pretty freaked out. But he's also not the type to not try to help people so anyone who happens nearby will find themselves with a little tug at their sleeve and a fairly frantic set of wide gold eyes fixed on them and a soft hiss of,] Be careful! That thing... really isn't safe at all! It can turn you to stone!
[ Prompt 4 ]
[This isn't a reward. This is... this is really mean. Toboe made the mistake of taking the book outside because honestly it was a book. He can't read. He's a wolf. But then he sat down in the colorless sun to look at it and. Well.
It's awful. Really awful.
So there is a small brown-haired boy sitting and sniffling and crying over a bunch of crayon drawing.] This is so mean.
[ Prompt Wildcard ]
[Feel free to find him anywhere about the town or the forest.]
1A
Several things, actually. Like those bracelets and the fact that the wolf is colored and normal looking, unlike the grey mutated animals he usually sees around here. But mostly, it's the sense of fear that he gets when he looks at the wolf. Izuku lets his fists drop back to his sides and carefully cranes his neck to look at the wolf hiding behind him.] Um...hi?
[He's not sure if he should be expecting a reply, but better safe than sorry, right?]
no subject
He looks up, a soft little whimper because. Well. The woods are scary the woods aren't supposed to be scary.
But he also moves to sit, and his tail gives a little wag. Hi. Hello, human. He isn't talking or pulling out the "also can look human" card just yet just yet because THAT SURE FREAKS PEOPLE OUT.]
no subject
Stay here. I'll go have a look. [Izuku tells him before scratching at his cheek a little helplessly. Right...he's still not sure if the wolf can understand him or not. But either way, if there's some kind of danger danger, he should check it out. Izuku starts walking in the direction the wolf had come from.]
no subject
Don't go it'll totally eat you he's sure of it.
(It won't. It's mostly nothing. He's just really easily spooked.)
And there might be a little,] Don't!
[Before he remembers himself. Oops.]
no subject
Oh...you can talk! That makes things a lot easier. [With a reassuring smile, Izuku squats down so that he's eye level with Toboe.] What did you see back there that scared you so much?
no subject
Oh... uh...
[He's glancing off in the direction he came.] It was a bird -- a big one! -- but it was all messed up. Something was really really wrong with it.
no subject
[But wait, everyone who's been here since day one knows all of that already. And he's pretty sure he'd remember a talking wolf around town. Izuku tilts his head, looking curious.] Did you just get here?
no subject
Rather immediately, in place of where the wolf was, is a small brown-haired boy, also sitting on the forest ground, blinking at Izuku, continuing the nod.]
Mm! Wherever here is. I don't like it. It smells all wrong.
no subject
You're a shapeshifter? That's so cool! [Sorry, were you saying something just now? Izuku's a bit distracted by Toboe's transformation.] Can you change into any animal you want, or is it just the wolf form?

Walking in her wolf form she jumps over some fallen trees before she hears foot steps and turns around. Then she tilts her head seeing a wolf...running from a bird.
Tomoe?
Walking over, cautious making sure it was him, she perks up when she gets close.]
no subject
Blue! You're here!
[He's never been so relieved to see a familiar face in his life, tail wagging madly behind him, full on puppy at the moment.]
no subject
Yes, are you okay?
no subject
[All in a rush because wow being not alone is by far the best thing. Alone is terrible. He's never liked it and liked it even less once he learned what it was like to actually have a pack. His tail is still going and he drops to a seat, peeking around.] Do you know where we are?
no subject
[Blue is quick to give his head a nuzzle. He was the youngest and she didn't imagine him being here alone. Though she wasn't even sure what this place was. So when he asks she looks around.]
No, I'm just as confused but I know I needed food. [Now it's a we.]
no subject
[That he would totally steal if he got even a little bit of a chance. But usually he could convince her into giving him a taste anyway. Shaking off the nostalgia, he nuzzles happily back at Blue, feeling a great deal braver now that he's not on his own.]
That's true. I'm pretty hungry. Should we go check it out?
no subject
[She was fine with stealing food, not like they haven't had to steal to survive before. It was about survival.]
We can, if we find some animals...we should try to catch that too. Sweets alone won't be good.
1B
Sudden? Sudden? Too sudden! What is big idea!? [She huffs and rubs at her cheek, her face bright red] If wanted kiss, should just say!
no subject
[He offers a very sheepish little smile, hopeful for forgiveness because well. He's never just up and kissed a stranger before. Usually he's way too skittish around strangers.
A pause and he cants his head to the side, a very canine little movement.] You smell different. [Wait. That's also weird.] Not bad or anything. I mean it's good! Just not like the other humans. [He shouldn't have said that either.] ...umm I mean. I'm Toboe.
no subject
In the end she settles on a blunt:] You are weird. [But it's not said like it's a bad thing so much as an obvious observation.]
Am not human, so will take that as good thing. Toboe. [She repeats the name once or twice, liking how it sounds, and hums in approval] Name is, ehhh... Too difficult to be said. Call me 'Oona.'
Said 'other humans.' You are not human? [She leans in curiously]
no subject
[He admits sheepishly, a laugh and a shrug of his shoulders because it's not like he can argue that he's weird. Especially how he was acting just then.]
You aren't? What are you? [Was that nosy? It was definitely nosy, but oh well.] Oona. [He echoes with a grin.] That's pretty. I like it.
[Oh. Right. He did say that. And he should totally keep his secret, right? Except she isn't human either, so... maybe it's okay? So he shakes his head.] Mm-mm. [He leans in and whispers the next part because it's a secret] I'm a wolf.
no subject
...Hmm... Okay. Me? Am mermaid. [This she doesn't say in a whisper or anything, puffing herself up proudly an saying it quite boldly]
Ehh. Know what is? [She was quickly discovering not everyone ha the mermaid legends where they were from and it was frankly disappointing, since obviously mermaids were the best.]
iii
What— Stone? What d'you mean "stone"?
no subject
[It's pretty scary actually. He looks at her and there's nothing but sincerity in his expression. He's all genuine concern.]
I mean... that's the thing they said we gotta feed, right? [He found someone kind enough to explain and read the quest to him, but cockatrice is a new word so he's not really sure.] But I don't wanna get turned to stone.
no subject
Argh... What's it doing that for? People are being nice, feeding it. What're we supposed to do, then?
[ She looks down at the berries she's carrying, wishing it were meat or something that actually smells strongly enough to entice the creature here if they just left it out in the open and waited for it to come. ]
Do you think it'll find this stuff if we just leave it out? Maybe with a huge banner saying "Hey Cockatrice, this is dinner!"?
