Prompt 1:
he forest looms, uninviting and full of menace, an unwelcoming place for sure. Time to go explore! It isn't as though there's anywhere else to go, now that you've looked around the Town.
The trees whack at you with branches that have far too much mobility for normal trees, strange and mutated animals watch from the shadows and boughs, and there’s the constant, constant sense of being watched --
But eventually, nonetheless, you’ll come across a small house in the forest. It sticks out like a sore thumb, bright and colorful, which is probably the first warning that something is way off, and it’s...covered in candy. It’s a candy house! It looks delicious.
(It’s empty, too, not a single soul in it, without even furniture, but everything is otherwise edible and utterly delicious.)
But if you eat the candy? You’re going to have a terrible, overwhelming urge to do one of two things:
- Fight the first person you see
- Kiss the first person you see
Unfortunate.
Prompt 2:
he problem with a Town like this is that now that color is starting to return, bit by bit? You never really know when color’s going to come back -- or disappear. Maybe you’ve made a delightful, delicious sandwich from handmade bread and tomatoes and deer meat, all of which have color now… and then suddenly, when taking a bite, you get only the taste of ash and bread and tomato as the deer meat loses color.
Also, someone probably died for that color to fade away. Alarming!
Or maybe you’re walking along when suddenly your makeshift clothing is a hideous mix-match of colors; it had seemed fine when it was all grey and colorless!
Or perhaps, even worse, you’re walking out of a house when suddenly, the flowerbed in front of it has full color, bright and maybe a little blinding after so much monochrome. Damn those color mechanics.
Prompt 3:
he quest seems simple, on the Quest Post:
Quest 33: Feed the Cockatrice. Requirements: 2 of any color Key word, of course, is seems. First, you have to find the cockatrice. Maybe grab someone to drag into the woods with you, since there needs to be at least two of you. Time to stomp through the woods in search of the elusive cockatrice.
Of course, once you find it, the quest...looks a bit harder. The monster hisses, ready to turn anyone who approaches to stone, as cockatrice tend to do. What do you even feed that thing? How will you get it to take it without getting stoned up? There are so many questions.
At least the stone will wear off...eventually… if you’re unlucky enough to get petrified.
Prompt 4:
ut hey, you did it! You fed the cockatrice, it seemed satisfied, and now you can go fetch your reward from your home. It must be something amazing, with the work that you put in.
The only change in your home, though, is what looks like a...picture book. It's got a colorful cover (in your character's color shade), and has their name on the cover, so it definitely belongs to them.
And when they flip it open, it's clearly full of pictures scribbled in, as if drawn in scribbly crayon. Unlike the rest of the Town, this book is fully colorful, every shade of the rainbow in those crayon strokes... which depict, page by page, your character's worst moments in their life. Every single last horrific experience or tragic moment -- it's all there, in colorful, cute children's drawings.
Congratulations!

zelda | loz: breath of the wild
[ within the empty abode, made entirely of confectionery walls, does zelda step inside of with wild curiosity. how in the world could a house like this remain so stable? it doesn't seem anyone lives inside, but the structure itself does not show signs of dilapidation... or spoilage of the walls and the decorative treats that line the exterior and interior.
she pokes around the empty halls until she is certain nothing is inside, but as she walks in the living room she comes across a green gummy treat that seems a little loose from the wall. with a cursory glance she puts her hands around it and pulls - hard, actually, it doesn't seem to be coming off as easily as she thought? it seemed so loose--
and then the treat is removed... along with a fragment of the house wall attached to it, light streaming from the outside into the small hole. zelda quickly turns away from it, avoiding the blinding ray, and realizes that she is no longer alone. ]
Oh... um. [ she holds the broken piece of house in one hand by her side and her other hand goes to her mouth to make a loud ahem to clear out her throat. ] I can explain.
[ narrator: but she couldn't. ]
02
[ the reasons as to why the colors change or not is currently an unknown to zelda, but she is most certainly going to endeavor to study.
on a grassy plain in town she sits with an assortment of objects, all simple from apples, leaves off a tree, and a small mound of dirt she just dug up to bring to the front and center. and as she looks upon these objects and notices how their colors fluctuate, she is taking photographs of every significant moment on a small device she grips in both hands.
and should you pass by, or she notices you nearby observing, she will turn with a small smile. ]
Hello. I'm conducting a small experiment, and I was wondering if you would abide in aiding me?
03
[ so as fate would have it, your character and zelda have teamed up to feed the cockatrice! at the moment one of the malevolent mutated cucoo is perched on a rock in a small clearing of the forest, darting its head around at a natural pace for its kind. upon closer examination the rock resembles a smaller animal, one that surely met its fate through the monster's power to petrify its foes.
hiding behind a collection of trees, zelda peeks her head past the bark to look at the monster with a frown, attempting to formulate some plan of action. they have to feed this... creature? it would almost seem better to slay it, or remove whatever malicious curse has turned it into a beast. yet she is curious about these quests and what their purpose are, and so she turns to her partner with concern in her eyes. ]
I fear it may not be very receptive to strangers, judging by its footrest. We need to decide how exactly we're going to feed it - do you have any thoughts?
02!!
Okay.
[ heyo, he's amenable! ]
What's your hypothesis?
no subject
Look at these items. I've noticed that they are changing colors - at times they will retain their natural hues, but then lose them all at once. This whole land seems to be devoid of color, yet the fluctuation leads me to believe that something is causing a suppression. Does this seem reasonable to you?
no subject
at her theory, he looks considerate as he watches an apple hover in a pinkish area for a moment before quickly going grey again. it's like it's trying to get closer to its normal color but then... something sucks it back up. so, yeah. he'd have to agree. ]
It does. Is that something you believe you can test?
no subject
[ with that she offers up the slate to... the keese-man? ]
I want to try and purify the suppression that could be tainting the color of the land, but I also need my attempt to be properly recorded for future endeavors. My method requires my hands, so... I need you to photograph my attempt.
[ it's a little awkward to ask someone to use a device they have no knowledge of, and that is so very treasured to her. and well, he's wearing such a weird costume. should she really trust him? ]
no subject
but he'll offer out his hands, palms up and unassuming as he does. he can sense her nervousness and he'd rather not give her reason to distrust him. he's happy to help her with this, really. ]
Just show me how it works and I'd be more than happy to assist you.

idk what you mean i've never seen a triangle before in my entire life
"the mystic symbol is three triangles in a bigger triangle" - zelda creator, probably

01!
[ nanami can't help but laugh, seeing someone so dignified completely wreck the side of a house. she's not going to judge, though, because she's broken plenty of walls in the dojo in a fit of rage or frustration. this was just an accident, probably? she can forgive that. ]
No, you can't. But that's okay! Nanami won't tell anyone. We can fix it!
no subject
Thank you, miss Nanami. I am... Zelda. [ "princess" is so normally tacted on, but she stops herself short of introducing herself in that way. from what she knows is this isn't hyrule, and even if it was the world only knows her as a fable. ] Perhaps we can see if there are any tools here? Or improvise with something from outside - I have no idea how a house like this could even be stably built to begin with though.
no subject
[ if zelda was able to crack off a whole chunk of house just by pulling hard enough, than something like a hammer could probably shatter an entire wall if it hits the right spot. ]
It's almost magical, don't you think?
no subject
[ she lifts up the broken piece and offers it to nanami to look - it took just seems to be made of gingerbread, as opposed to wood. ]
I wish I could meet the owners. I feel they would have a lot to teach us.
no subject
I bet they'd be really nice! You'd have to be, to want to live in a house like this.
[ she's just gonna... sniff this. ]

02
Ummm sure! [He gives her a tentative smile before shuffling closer.] What did you need help with?
no subject
no subject
[Izuku frowns, cupping his chin in one hand.] You think it's a curse?
no subject
no subject
The color's obviously tied to magic of some kind, and a curse would fall right into that category, wouldn't it?

03
Hm. How about we stun it...
[With her gun which also doubled helpfully as a grappling hook, taser and a flamethrower.]
And then shove food into its mouth?
no subject
[ what a troublesome quest when the creature is clearly malicious. but also-- ]
That's quite a unique weapon you seem to have, if I can say so. I would love to see how you operate it.
[ new technologies have been of great interest as a means to defend her home long ago and now it is just a great interest in general. ]
no subject
[Shiho no]
Though maybe a syringe or something would be helpful too... [SHIHO NO]
You can definitely say it. And.... well, I guess we have to stun it first anyway, right? [She holds up the weapon at that, flicking the knob to the taser setting.]
no subject
[ so, shiho yes! ]
Please go ahead and stun it. I'll get the apple.
[ she hopes it isn't too gross, being without color and all, but there seem to be some just above the trees they're next to. ]
no subject
Still contemplating the best way to feed the cockatrice at the same time, Shiho presses one hand to the cover they’re using right now, reading the cockatrice’s location before swiftly coming up, aiming and then shooting. A long grappling hook wraps tightly around the leg she’d been aiming for, earning her an angry squawk.
At least she doesn’t have to be near or even looking for this next part as she presses the trigger to run an electric charge straight through the cable and into the poor thing.
It’s only once she’s sure the target has stopped moving that she turns to see how Zelda’s part of the mission is coming along.]

It doesn't seem he wants to respond, and maybe he's debating. Finally, he glances back over a shoulder.]
The colors are connected to everyone here.
What are you trying to do?
no subject
I believe the lack of color is due to a curse upon the land. My power has typically worked to dispel malicious forces - I would like to make an attempt, but require an observer.
no subject
[He looks away, and it almost seems like he may continue on regardless. However, he stands there for a long, quiet moment without ever moving forward. Dammit.
Finally, he turns back around, venturing just a little closer.]
How does your magic work?
no subject
[ she states with a firmness, and wonders from where such a comment could come from. but regardless of that- ]
My power is to purify curses and malevolent forces through prayer. Though I am uncertain as to whether or not it will work, I feel it would be a disservice to not at least make the attempt if there is a chance of success.
