Prompt 1:
he forest looms, uninviting and full of menace, an unwelcoming place for sure. Time to go explore! It isn't as though there's anywhere else to go, now that you've looked around the Town.
The trees whack at you with branches that have far too much mobility for normal trees, strange and mutated animals watch from the shadows and boughs, and there’s the constant, constant sense of being watched --
But eventually, nonetheless, you’ll come across a small house in the forest. It sticks out like a sore thumb, bright and colorful, which is probably the first warning that something is way off, and it’s...covered in candy. It’s a candy house! It looks delicious.
(It’s empty, too, not a single soul in it, without even furniture, but everything is otherwise edible and utterly delicious.)
But if you eat the candy? You’re going to have a terrible, overwhelming urge to do one of two things:
- Fight the first person you see
- Kiss the first person you see
Unfortunate.
Prompt 2:
he problem with a Town like this is that now that color is starting to return, bit by bit? You never really know when color’s going to come back -- or disappear. Maybe you’ve made a delightful, delicious sandwich from handmade bread and tomatoes and deer meat, all of which have color now… and then suddenly, when taking a bite, you get only the taste of ash and bread and tomato as the deer meat loses color.
Also, someone probably died for that color to fade away. Alarming!
Or maybe you’re walking along when suddenly your makeshift clothing is a hideous mix-match of colors; it had seemed fine when it was all grey and colorless!
Or perhaps, even worse, you’re walking out of a house when suddenly, the flowerbed in front of it has full color, bright and maybe a little blinding after so much monochrome. Damn those color mechanics.
Prompt 3:
he quest seems simple, on the Quest Post:
Quest 33: Feed the Cockatrice. Requirements: 2 of any color Key word, of course, is seems. First, you have to find the cockatrice. Maybe grab someone to drag into the woods with you, since there needs to be at least two of you. Time to stomp through the woods in search of the elusive cockatrice.
Of course, once you find it, the quest...looks a bit harder. The monster hisses, ready to turn anyone who approaches to stone, as cockatrice tend to do. What do you even feed that thing? How will you get it to take it without getting stoned up? There are so many questions.
At least the stone will wear off...eventually… if you’re unlucky enough to get petrified.
Prompt 4:
ut hey, you did it! You fed the cockatrice, it seemed satisfied, and now you can go fetch your reward from your home. It must be something amazing, with the work that you put in.
The only change in your home, though, is what looks like a...picture book. It's got a colorful cover (in your character's color shade), and has their name on the cover, so it definitely belongs to them.
And when they flip it open, it's clearly full of pictures scribbled in, as if drawn in scribbly crayon. Unlike the rest of the Town, this book is fully colorful, every shade of the rainbow in those crayon strokes... which depict, page by page, your character's worst moments in their life. Every single last horrific experience or tragic moment -- it's all there, in colorful, cute children's drawings.
Congratulations!

[she arches a brow as she crunches on a piece of peppermint, shoulder pressed against the candy house wall casually]
Eeeeh, it's less about hiding the evidence and more about enjoying the spoils of adventure. Who would waste an opportunity like this?
[because the house is hers now. yep. she found it, she's claiming it]
[but he can totally eat parts of it if he want's to; she won't stop him. she isn't greedy, after all]
no subject
Can't ya do both? Ya know, enjoy the moment but keep outta trouble and all that. ( Holding up the "glass shard." It's just sugar? So it should be pretty harmless, right? While examining it, it snaps and he jumps. He didn't do that either, okay. ) What kind of opportunity d'ya think this is, anyway?
( Does she know something he doesn't? Or got something on her mind she wants to share? Anyway, while he's making conversation, he'll pop a piece of window in his mouth. He's still on team #HideTheEvidence and he's got his work cut out for him so let's get started on that now. )
no subject
Sure thing, golden boy. If that's what you want to do. Sounds boring, though.
[she speaks dismissively, but moves on to answer his next question as she snaps off another piece of peppermint]
It's an opportunity to indulge, something no one should ever pass up! It isn't like peppermint and sugar are common commodities in the time period I come from.

I'm just saying--! Can't ya tell we're being watched?! What if whatever's watching us lives here?
( And they decide to get all defensive and fight for their home. Actually, that would be really nice? He could go for a fight right now. )
It wouldn't hurt to be a lil more careful!
( Why is he yelling at a woman??? HE WAS RAISED* BETTER THAN THIS.
*Struck with the fear of God to be better than this )
no subject
[she drops a hand to a pistol at her waist, palm resting against the hilt]
Hmm? Ah, well, if that happens then I'll just have to fight them for ownership of this treasure.
[yes, it's treasure, because she said so]
no subject
If it's a fight you're looking for, why not start one right now?
( A sword is no match for a gun. He knows this. But he also knows how a gun works. It's fast and deadly but it only goes in the direction it's aimed in. If he can feint an attack and catch her off guard... Yeah. Yeah. Quickly, he draws his sword taking a step back into an attack position and swinging forward, straight and direct but changing direction just as suddenly, side stepping, crouching low to the ground, and raising himself in an upward swing at her side. )
no subject
Tch--!
[her movements are just as quick as she yanks one of her pistols from her belt, using the barrel to catch his blade before it can bite into sensitive flesh]
Oh. . . now this is more like it, golden boy! You almost had me.
[from this close, she can't fire her weapon and expect to hit him, so. what if she attempts to kick him in the gut instead??]
no subject
It also hurts.
He barely even has the chance to appreciate his first attack before he's left recoiling back, a sound something like a cough and a gasp escaping him. If he lets her regain her space though, he knows he'll be at a disadvantage. Guns have range and he can't let her have that so he grits his teeth and pushes forward, trying to regain the space he'd just given up moments ago.
His next attack is tight, going right for her arm to at least keep her from getting proper aim at him. If he can get her to shoot in the air, off to the side-- anywhere but him he can try to exhaust her supply of bullets. Except she has how many guns? That's a problem. Maybe he should just keep her on her toes so she can't fire at him freely. If all fails, he has one more trick up his sleeve-- that gun holstered to on his leg, the more superior weapon that he hasn't drawn yet for some reason... )
Never fought against a gun before--! ( It's dangerous. It's exciting. ) Most of the guys back home are too old fashioned to even try.
You're a real modern woman though, aren't ya?!
( And here she was talking about back in her time. She's already got years on the other swords. )
no subject
[once there is space between them, however small, Rider swings one pistol upwards, finger twitching on the trigger, barrel aimed right at her opponent's chest. but he darts in fast again, aiming for her arm, which forces her on the defensive for a second time in a row. she blocks the blade with her firearm again, though this time she shoves against it roughly and leaps away to chase more of that advantageous distance]
[despite being forced to defend instead of attack, she still looks. . . excited, instead of frustrated, lips curved into a delighted smirk]
Modern has nothing to do with it! A rapscallion such as myself takes every advantage in a fight she can get!
[if she doesn't move fast, he'll keep her on the defensive, so. . .! she yanks a second pistol from her belt and swings it around to take a shot at him. but without the time to aim, it does go a bit wild, easy enough to dodge. but hey, if he's distracted by shot number one, maybe her second one will be a bit more deadly--]
no subject
And there's the second gun he'd been dreading. Dreading? Looking forward to? It's a strange mix of both. He can tell she's going to fire before she pulls the trigger. That gives him just enough time to react, or rather, figure out a reaction. Which one will she fire, though? It sure would suck if he dodged the wrong gun and went right into the trajectory of the correct one.
He knows he's caught her off guard regarding her first gun so he'll take his chances. He'll bank on her firing from the second gun and that's the one he keeps an eye on, bolting out of the way as quickly as he can. Let's say she manages to shoot of a tuft of fur from his fake tail though because he needs to suffer some. It's very soft and important and he'll be very distressed later.
For now, he'll smile though. He smiles wide and his eyes are bright. He's definitely on some sort of battle high right now and this is all fun for him. There's no killing intent whatsoever and he's just here to have a good time. )
Two guns! ( HECK YEAH, THIS IS GREAT. He sure wishes he could have two guns. When will I ever canon update him in RP so he can get a Wes-san for Smith-san. ) Talk about style!
( He's t u r n t™. But he's lost too much ground as it is. That's the thing with guns-- it doesn't take much. It's been fun playing around but he needs to be serious now. Bring out the guns. Or the gun, rather and one hand reaches for his holster, drawing his gun, finger on the trigger and--
Wait a second???? What's going on??? )
1/2
Anything worth doing is worth doing in style!
[and-- oh, there it is. he draws another weapon, a firearm of his own, and she really feels like they're getting into the thick of things now. her own eyes light up, shining bright with. . . well, it isn't killing intent, but she doesn't like holding back. she isn't holding back]
Then let's finish this, shall we?
[he fingers squeeze both triggers, magical energy coursing through her weapons like fuel]
no subject
[it's like popping a balloon with a needle, the way her energy suddenly snaps. she finds it difficult to stand all of a sudden as she drops to one knee, gasping for breath]
[right]
[firing her pistols as she does requires magical energy. of which she is on short supply, because her Master isn't here]
[oops]
Aaah. . . right, right. Slamming down the curtain before the finale. . .
no subject
Wait a second, wait a second!
( He sure is screaming because he doesn't even get why he was fighting a second ago? How did they get this far without realizing this was a bad idea?! He doesn't even like fighting that much (actually he does but let him keep his reputation okay).
There's no way he's going to be able to dodge both of these fast enough. Aw, shit. So which side's gotta go? The problem with using a semi-ambidextrous fighting style is that you kind of need both arms! Okay, so should he just take a shot to chest? Hell no he doesn't want to die? He's still got a whole new world to see shining shimmering and all that jazz. THERE'S STILL A WHOLE NEW AGE HE WANTS TO SEE HE'S NOT DYING RIGHT HERE? )
Damn--!
( He really doesn't want to pull the trigger but he might not have a choice--
She drops to one knee so suddenly, he isn't sure what to make of it. Did he... did he actually pull the trigger? Was that his doing? He looks at his gun, held out straight, locked and ready to fire but... Nah, he definitely didn't fire anything. But this reaction is so strange, he actually... he actually gives his gun a shake like clearly that's going to help him know how many rounds he still has left (six. he still has all six). He can just tell. )
... Hey... Hey, hey! Are ya alright?!
no subject
Yeah, yeah. . .! Don't fuss too much, golden boy. This one's on me.
[a breath, and she sits back, legs crossed and pistols resting on the ground next to her, give her a moment]
Claim it as your victory if you please, though I hate to say it's a pretty lackluster one.
[SHE CAN'T EVEN LOSE TO HIM WITH GRACE, SHE HAS TO GO THE "LOSING HER MAGICAL ENERGY" ROUTE. . .]
no subject
What happened? I know I didn't hit ya that hard. ( Unless she's fragile? Some sort of glass cannon (heh)? ) Ya don't look so good.
Don't worry about that right now. ( Who wins and who loses. It isn't important. ) Don't even know what that was all about anymore...
( It feels kind of like a dream. He knows he'd been fighting but... why, exactly? He doesn't even like fighting that much. I mean, he does, but not like that. )
... Can ya stand?
no subject
[. . . even though she does have to reach out to brace herself on a nearby tree, and pause before she answers, inhaling a deep breath]
Mana.
[???]
Aaah, without a Master I'm truly limited, aren't I? Tch! The promise of eternity always did come with terms and conditions. No wonder I never liked the idea of it.
[she isn't explaining herself I'm so sorry]
no subject
Or maybe she actually isn't all that independent since... it sounds like she has a master? Needs a master, even? )
Ya need your master? ( That's all he's getting out of this thanks to her no good awful explanation. Okay, but he's a smart guy so he can figure this out. All of her energy just went out of her like the wind out of her sails and it happened after fighting. So is her energy this "mana" thing and is it linked to her contract with this master? After a moment putting that together he asks, ) ... You're some kind of spirit, aren't ya?
