Prompt 1:
he forest looms, uninviting and full of menace, an unwelcoming place for sure. Time to go explore! It isn't as though there's anywhere else to go, now that you've looked around the Town.
The trees whack at you with branches that have far too much mobility for normal trees, strange and mutated animals watch from the shadows and boughs, and there’s the constant, constant sense of being watched --
But eventually, nonetheless, you’ll come across a small house in the forest. It sticks out like a sore thumb, bright and colorful, which is probably the first warning that something is way off, and it’s...covered in candy. It’s a candy house! It looks delicious.
(It’s empty, too, not a single soul in it, without even furniture, but everything is otherwise edible and utterly delicious.)
But if you eat the candy? You’re going to have a terrible, overwhelming urge to do one of two things:
- Fight the first person you see
- Kiss the first person you see
Unfortunate.
Prompt 2:
he problem with a Town like this is that now that color is starting to return, bit by bit? You never really know when color’s going to come back -- or disappear. Maybe you’ve made a delightful, delicious sandwich from handmade bread and tomatoes and deer meat, all of which have color now… and then suddenly, when taking a bite, you get only the taste of ash and bread and tomato as the deer meat loses color.
Also, someone probably died for that color to fade away. Alarming!
Or maybe you’re walking along when suddenly your makeshift clothing is a hideous mix-match of colors; it had seemed fine when it was all grey and colorless!
Or perhaps, even worse, you’re walking out of a house when suddenly, the flowerbed in front of it has full color, bright and maybe a little blinding after so much monochrome. Damn those color mechanics.
Prompt 3:
he quest seems simple, on the Quest Post:
Quest 33: Feed the Cockatrice. Requirements: 2 of any color Key word, of course, is seems. First, you have to find the cockatrice. Maybe grab someone to drag into the woods with you, since there needs to be at least two of you. Time to stomp through the woods in search of the elusive cockatrice.
Of course, once you find it, the quest...looks a bit harder. The monster hisses, ready to turn anyone who approaches to stone, as cockatrice tend to do. What do you even feed that thing? How will you get it to take it without getting stoned up? There are so many questions.
At least the stone will wear off...eventually… if you’re unlucky enough to get petrified.
Prompt 4:
ut hey, you did it! You fed the cockatrice, it seemed satisfied, and now you can go fetch your reward from your home. It must be something amazing, with the work that you put in.
The only change in your home, though, is what looks like a...picture book. It's got a colorful cover (in your character's color shade), and has their name on the cover, so it definitely belongs to them.
And when they flip it open, it's clearly full of pictures scribbled in, as if drawn in scribbly crayon. Unlike the rest of the Town, this book is fully colorful, every shade of the rainbow in those crayon strokes... which depict, page by page, your character's worst moments in their life. Every single last horrific experience or tragic moment -- it's all there, in colorful, cute children's drawings.
Congratulations!

[So, it's time to look at things closely and make sure there's nothing of value!]

[Sounds like it. But if this was all sweets, there was probably not much if anything actually useful aside from the sweets in eating them. Which Yuu has thankfully thus far managed to avoid temptation on. Though that might only be a matter of time in how the smell makes him both feel a little ill and reminds his stomach how long it has been since he last ate.
Still, he glances around, exploring the room a bit in trying to find anything that stood out as something possibly useful, valuable somehow.]
It's all just sweets though.....
no subject
He's getting frustrated.]
I guess they really might be the only thing there is to this place.
no subject
[Nothing they didn't have functionally in the other buildings? At least as far as he can tell as he glances around. And then is distracted and a little sheepish when his stomach chooses that moment to protest in being around all this food and not immediately devouring it.]
no subject
Didn't you eat something before we came in here? [Into the forest, he means, an hour or two ago.]
no subject
[Guren what do you expect from the kid who mostly had to sustain himself off of those gross nutrient pouches the vampires gave him and then made himself sick devouring everything in sight the moment Guren presented him with food after taking him in? He's a teenage boy, of course if there is food around, he would eat it. Or want to, in this case. He hasn't yet. Somehow.]
no subject
We'll get you something when we get back to town. It won't be that much longer.
[He says that, but the front door has closed at some point, and even if they do leave, the forest has a way of bringing people back to where it wants them to be. The candy is so compelling, isn't it? Even Guren is tempted to know what it does.
But he's better than that!!]
no subject
[He gives a shrug, glancing around and poking around the room to try find anything that seemed useful. Yuu pokes around unsuccessfully for about ten more minutes before his stomach protests again at the idea of being around food and not devouring it on sight.
It's only then that he glances back towards the door in being about to ask Guren if he was finished, if they could get going, that he notes the closed door.]
.....wait, did we shut the door behind us?
[Did he shut it after he followed Guren? Or maybe it was just the wind?]
no subject
[Guren turns, now, after trying to "light" the fake stove to no avail, and eyes the front door. It sure is shut, and he moves over to it, hand on his sword.]
Nothing feels off. You don't feel anything either, right?
no subject
[Guren, please. Anyone should know better than to ask a teenage boy if they were hungry around food. But still, Yuu isn't quite getting too paranoid just yet, isn't as experienced with this place, with how it works after not having been here so long. He gives a shrug, though he frowns as he follows.
Was it the wind? Guren's questions make him wonder. This house was odd to begin with, amazing a creation as it is. Wasn't there some story about a house like this? But probably he shouldn't think back to that. Whatever vague memories he might have on it. After all, his childhood wasn't exactly the most pleasant an experience.]
no subject
[Guren says it, but he's distracted, finally plucking a piece of candy off of the wall and staring at it. Nothing is making sense here, but if he tried it himself... Would it be alright? Could he handle whatever it was? He doesn't want Yuu risking it, but if he does...
He's just thinking about it!!]
no subject
And well. Seeing Guren break off some candy, maybe that meant it was okay? Presumably. Yuu doesn't even stop to think on it possibly being poisoned somehow, or worse. So he does the same, raising it to drop it in his mouth.]
no subject
[He notices it too late, reaching to grab Yuu by the collar and dropping his own candy in the process.]
Do as I say, not as I do, you brat! Did you swallow it?!
no subject
[And there he goes, the movement making him instinctively swallow the candy, coughing as he then straightens, a hand to his throat, though Guren still holds to his collar of his uniform.
But he feels fine? He thinks. Part of him might be unable to help remembering taking those pills, but this was just candy, right? So it was probably fine.]
Yeah? It's just candy. I'm fine, Guren, it hasn't immediately made me drop dead.
[Or at least, he seems fine thus far?]
no subject
[Guren sighs, heavily. He doesn't care if he was just considering it himself. He doesn't care!! What matters is that Yuu listens, that Guren was incredibly worried he'd start choking or hallucinating or god knows what else.
He stares at him a moment longer before he lets go, his eyes looking tired. Is he really fine?]
Just don't eat any more.
no subject
[Yuu points out, pouting as he sighs and shrugs. But then, this was hardly the first or last time that Guren would say something like that. In wanting Yuu to pay attention to his words rather than his actions. He can't help but brush this off as nothing, initially, given he doesn't seem to immediately feel any different or drop dead from being poisoned or anything.
Clearly, Guren is just way paranoid with this place.]
no subject
[He scowls, pushing Yuu's head lightly as he turns to walk away. He seems fine, so as long as he keeps an eye on him, there shouldn't be any problems.] Let's just get out of here before you start eating the walls.
no subject
But this was different. This wasn't just sparring. Yuu calls his name just before he attempts a punch, not that it is likely to land, given Guren's paranoia at the moment, and the difference in height meaning Yuu aims lower on Guren in comparison.]
no subject
He nearly says "quit screwing around," but it's in that moment that he picks up on how off it is.]
What? [So that's all he can manage just yet]
no subject
That Guren stopped him thus far is probably a good thing. Though there's another punch aiming for his superior with his free hand, once his attempts to free his other seem futile in Guren's grip.]
no subject
So, he can catch that other punch, as well, gripping tight on both limbs to keep him in place.]
Yuu! [This is just concerning, now, since Yuu hasn't said a word. This isn't some ambush over wanting a snack, or trying to test his strength.] What's going on?
no subject
[Sure. It isn't unusual for them to fight. To spar. But it wasn't like when either of them were possessed, were losing control. It's still just Yuu. Not influenced by Ashuramaru or his seraph gene. Or at least not yet.
But in spite of himself he does seem a little annoyed at being stopped like this. So easily. Not that he should be surprised. For as much as he had improved, Guren still h]
