Prompt 1:
t's probably been at least a little while since you managed to climb out of the well, so hopefully you've dried off by now and are enjoying poking around the Town. But who cares about all of that? More importantly, the Town has a new feature this time, for reasons entirely unknown to everyone.
The flowers...seem to be talking. They have no faces, but they will definitely turn to talk to you, and if they have had their color restored, they will very brightly and contentedly compliment you, or your clothing, or wish you well.
If they haven't? Prepare yourself for all sorts of horrible, horrible insults, because that's all that's coming your way.
Prompt 2:
ow are you settling in? Is the Town treating you well? It's not as bad as it used to be; some of the houses have color, some of the food has color and taste as well. It's been polished up a bit since everyone first got here.
Granted, when you wake up that morning to find yourself in full fancy wear of many different types (all colorless, and gender has nothing to do with which you might end up in), you'll find that the Town might not be as well put together as it seems.
You can't get out of the formal wear. It just won't come off, no matter what you do. Which wouldn't be so bad, but... it seems like these clothes will snag on just about everything in the Town, which is far from smooth. Try not to trip over those loose cobblestones, or your dress snagging on a nail sticking out from a door frame. This is really not the place for this sort of clothing.
Prompt 3:
e loves me, he loves me not... that's a pretty familiar game, right? For some reason, the urge to pick one of those flowers and casually pluck the petals from it while playing that game is going to grow stronger and stronger the more flowers you see. Eventually? You're just going to have to cave to it.
(Certainly it doesn't help that the flowers scream a bit when you pull their petals; they still can talk right now, after all!)
She loves you, she loves you not...and by the time you've picked the last petal, you've forgotten who you were even thinking of originally -- instead, the very next person you see is going to be the victim of a very impassioned declaration of love. Don't worry, you'll come back to yourself...after you declare your undying love for everyone to hear.
Prompt 4:
ut no matter how many people tell you not to go into the forest, however, it's still rather enticing, isn't it? It's sitting right there, waiting for you to explore it, waiting for you to just step a little bit out of the Town...
And soon, you're surrounded by the dark boughs of the trees, the twisty, turny paths of the woods, where it feels like you're wandering in circles for hours upon hours --
And then, after ages of tree branches yanking at your hair and roots tripping you up, you find a clearing.
And in that clearing? There's a field of flowers. They're colorless -- strangely eerie because of it, but still distinctly recognizable to the flower familiar as Asphodel. And touching any single one of those flowers will suddenly give you vivid memories of one of your precious friends -- so long as they're dead. Anyone around you is going to experience that flash of memory too, so be careful!

It was when he turned to her and professed his undying love for her that caused the frown to partly fix itself on her lips.]
Clearly.
[There was absolutely no way that Nico would be in love with her, In fact, the only one she ever wanted to be in love with her was Leo, who was probably halfway to Camp Jupiter by now.]
Why are you picking flowers anyway?
[The insatiable urge hadn't quite kicked in just yet.]
no subject
Thankfully, she's someone who understands that people get cursed to do ridiculous things and doesn't dwell on it very long. ]
Don't know, I just felt compelled to pick one after a while. It might be part of the curse.
[ He heaves a heavy sigh and tosses away the remains of the now petal-less flower. ]
You alone?
[ Of course Nico's asking if maybe Leo (or even Apollo or Festus) got dragged here with her. ]
no subject
But she's distracted by the question. She knows who he's asking after. She's not as strong as Apollo or Leo, and of course, that's what would matter here to a demigod. So she shakes her head. Yes, she's alone.]
The last I saw Leo, he was heading for Camp Jupiter. Apollo and Meg too.
[Which meant that she had been left alone. Not that she was upset by it. She was going to be starting school soon and there were her powers to think about. And Leo would be back soon enough. They'd made that promise.]
You?
no subject
They can teach her to wield a weapon if she wants, though they might not be able to help with other abilities. When she tells him she's alone, Nico doesn't look all that disappointed by the news. He got to hit Leo before ending up here and Apollo has a quest he should be on so he really isn't upset that Calpyso's here instead of them. ]
Glad to hear that Apollo joined forces with Meg again. You'll have to catch me up on everything that's happened since you left.
[ Nico knows that even just traveling across the country is wraught with danger for a demigod and beings who were once immortal. Not to mention that it sounds as if Calypso got left behind while her boyfriend gave the god and his friend a ride.
For a moment he's silent. ]
I showed up alone but... Percy's here. As far as I know it's the three of us and his hellhound, Mrs. O'Leary. [ His eyes go to the sky. ] He said Annabeth had been here for a while and then disappeared.
no subject
Still, Percy going missing should have come back to them in some way. Grover might have at least mentioned it before they left. Percy was, after all, practically the shining star of Camp Half-Blood. And with the impending battle it was likely that they would need him to help defend Camp Jupiter.]
We didn't hear anything about that. How long has he been here?
no subject
Considering what happened the last time Percy went missing, it would definitely have been a big deal had anyone noticed. Which they hadn't. Which meant there was something odd at work here. ]
No one at Camp knew either so we couldn't pass that message on to you. If he'd gone missing again, word would have spread pretty fast even with our communication lines not working. He said it's been three months since he got stuck here.
no subject
Do you think someone is hiding the fact that he's missing?
[It was unlikely, but the possibility was there. There were Gods and other immortals that could probably do it. The question was why they would.]
They need both of you back home.
no subject
Those left at Camp also don't know a whole lot that's been going on with Apollo's quest since they left either so something could have happened with that too. ]
If they are then they're pretty powerful for no one to notice his disappearance. Personally, I suspect it has something to do with this place.
[ Somehow he doubts that the Triumvirate has the power to make a demigod just vanish and no one else notices. Especially one of the Seven who's pretty much a legend by either Camp standards now. ]
Need us for what, exactly?
no subject
If this place had so much sway over their world, who else had it picked up and spirited away over the millennia without their noticing?
Then came the question she knew would. What exactly was happening that they were needed. The answer was far from good.]
There's going to be an attack on Camp Jupiter. Leo took Festus to warn them. Apollo and Meg had to go through the labyrinth.
[Which never boded well for anyone, even with Grover leading the way.]
no subject
Nico is sure the answer to that is "someone powerful" and with their luck they'll probably have to face that someone in a battle where the chances of death are high.
He figured that Apollo might need more help than a couple of demigods at his side to stop whatever was happening eventually but not this soon. ]
Wouldn't be the first time that Camp was attacked. If Leo can get there in time to warn them, the enemy will have a real fight on their hands. Apollo and Meg probably won't die in the labyrinth, it's not nearly as dangerous as it was before.
[ Probably being the keyword there. Even if it isn't as malevolent as it once was, the labyrinth can still be pretty dangerous as their three-legged race has shown. ]
no subject
On top of that, they weren't sure that Camp Jupiter could face this fight without the help of Camp Half-Blood. The Romans were strong, but additional help was important.]
If Leo gets there in time. We don't have much of it.
no subject
That's the problem with Camp Half-Blood coming to help Camp Jupiter - they had a long way to travel and if Leo doesn't have time flying Festus about half the distance then how are the Greeks supposed to get there in time. ]
Seems like that's always the problem - deadlines. You guys have any way of getting a message to Camp Half-Blood?
[ Maybe they can't get there in time but they can sure try. ]
no subject
Which makes things even more difficult. I don't think I'll ever understand how mortals deal with all this stress.
[Except she was mortal now too. Eventually, she'd have to learn to handle this sort of thing.]
no subject
The only way I can think to get a message to Camp is if you happen to cross paths with one of Hypnos' kids. That's how I did it last time IM's were unreliable. I don't think trying to send a letter via wind nymph would work as well for you guys.
[ Calypso will have to get used to having mortal problems. ]
no subject
[It's a hard admission to give, but better than her complete powerlessness back when they were at Camp Half-Blood]
Is there a way to make sure you meet up with one of them?
[She's never tried, she's never had to in fact. Generally, she's screaming into the wind at her relatives. Although, even that had been happening less recently.]
no subject
Your powers are coming back?
[ He hadn't been right there when it was revealed that she didn't have powers anymore but one couldn't miss the way Leo rushed to do things for her. ]
Not sure. The one sending letters was a satyr who was married to a wind nymph so he might've had a special connections to make it possible.
[ Also... ]
Where exactly did Leo leave you that he could just take off on Festus alone?
no subject
[There was, of course, more to it than that. There were rescues and battles and so much more, but it wasn't the time to talk about exactly what happened in Indianapolis.]
A place called 'The Waystation' in Indianapolis. It's,
[She looks away, frowning. She's not sure if Leo would want her to tell the others, but Nico wasn't like his other friends. He was, different somehow.]
It's become our home. When this is over, we're going to live there.
no subject
[ It may take him a minute to place the name but he knows who the goddess is, at least. Nico also figures there's a great story behind it but they can save that for later.
When she clearly hesitates, he watches her carefully. And then she calls it home and that's something Nico can understand. ]
Looks like you've found a place to be in this new world. [ For him it's only been seventy years but for Calypso, the world's changed a lot. Finding a place to call home is a good thing. So no, he doesn't hold it against her at all. ]
When things settle down, we'll have to come visit. Get a tour of the Waystation.
no subject
Never tell Apollo that.
[The god's name is said without venom. With fondness even. Surprisingly, he had become a true friend, something she hoped remained after he returned to godhood. (Although she wouldn't hold her breath on that.)]
It's still, difficult -
[Without Leo things still seem strange and she gets confused easily. She knows that, to a worrisome extent, she relies on Leo to keep her from getting lost in this world that is nothing like she's used to.]
But we're going to school in the fall.
[It will be an experience, but at least it might help her to acclimate to the world she's come into.]
no subject
Oh, I'm sure she was all "go do that and almost die for me" before she even thought about helping out.
[ That's how it seems to be with most gods and goddesses. He notices the way Calypso says Apollo's name but makes no comment on it. ]
Percy and I can try to help you with your abilities but I'm not sure how much we'll be able to do for you.
[ Maybe Nico shouldn't promise that Percy will help out, though he's sure they'd both be in agreement that the once immortal girl should have some way to defend herself here. As for her being out of place in a new world, Nico can relate to that and help as much as possible. ]
That should be fun.
[ Or at least enlightening. Give her a chance to interact with kids who aren't demigods and used to a world of weird. ]
